  • Post in thread: Clarification on residential battery storage - required to be in a box

I asked and I got this in regards to box and some clearance issues so not sure which section refers to what I didnt see that in the IRC and had trouble locating the exact section on NEC Refer to 2018 IRC R327. Refer to 2017 NEC 480, 690.71.
  • Post in thread: Link or sample of ground mounted offgrid design for permitting

I heard of greenlancer yes - thats what az wind and sun uses. I had also found this decent samples https://solsmart.org/solar-permitting/step-1 I needed the permit for my house building permit but they are letting me do a conditional - so I just need to rough design it for now and I will...

Interesting. Maybe if its just the terminals I may not need it as I have these https://battlebornbatteries.com/product/270ah-12v-lifepo4-deep-cycle-gc3-battery/

Plan examiner says my batteries need to be in an approved box regardless of inside or in shed. But I am looking for the exact code for this - we use IRC 2018 and NEC 2017 - anyone know the section where this is defined?
  • Post in thread: Link or sample of ground mounted offgrid design for permitting

Am looking for recommendations on either good samples or a plan generator (I did see solardesigntool.com - curious on if anyone used them). I am building a ground mounted off grid array and have to provide the design to get a permit and Id like to see if I can accomplish this myself. Some of...

  • Post in thread: 12 panel 3x4 or 4x3 series/parallel

Im using Victron MPPT configurator and going with the 250/100 which gives me room to spare to add 4 more eventually. I think I set it to 0F or something and it came out at 203.8V for PV max. voltage @ min. temperature
  • Post in thread: Best voltage to work with long distance

My thoughts are to have the batteries and solark in a shed near the array then run AC from there to the house. Am open to alternatives - i.e batteries and solark in house (currently getting permitted for house build - next year they wont allow that). But that means 150ft of PV cable - isn;t that...

Here's the sticker info . Currently wired in 48V output and was plannimg the same once I expanded.
  • Post in thread: Best voltage to work with long distance

Here's the solar sticker info. I guess I thought it would be better to run the AC than the solar DC for long distance. Id like the solark in the house actually because I plan on connecting to it to program it as part of my automation. Currently the panels are wired in 48V and I plan to do same...
  • Post in thread: Battery enclosure recommendation to meet code

Im finding little info on this but plan examiner said batteries must be in an battery enclosure. When I search I see $$$ meant for security and management. I will be dealing w 4 batteries (BattleBornBatteries BBGC3H - kind of long). Does anyone know more details on the requirements? I asked the...
  • Post in thread: 12 panel 3x4 or 4x3 series/parallel

I will be dealing with 12 24v/200w panels - I have a 4 string combiner box. Should I go 3 series of 4 parallels or vice versa or does it not matter? They are all together so how they shade etc is not an concern really - more on the electrical side of things. Bigger breakers, less of them etc...

What do you mean exactly by 5 10awg - not 4?
