Is off grid (PV+Battery) better than grid-tie?

Haha. Doesn't sound so free. Ironic that the US persists on defending their freedom internationally when the biggest restraint on your freedom are domestic actions... ?

Is off grid (PV+Battery) better than grid-tie?

Why would your government watch your energy consumption? Why would they be allowed? Which country do you live?

Am I able the to charge and discharge the battery at the same time?

A load pulls current from a power source. The load will never know what other things are connected to the battery. You should also match your inverter and battery to the planned AC loads and the battery max amp draw.

    Victron product?

Hi! I'm building what i hope is a small backup system. A ups if you will. I'm having a hard time selecting the product way to go. I have a few options/ideas: 1. Victron multiplus 12/500 (AC in, battery, inverter) 2. Phoenix (only inverter). Needs ac in: a. Ip22 charger to keep battery...

Can I use a e.g. an 8S BMS with fever cells, say 4S and just not use the other 4 plus cables?

MPP Solar 1012 vs DIY Milk Crate

Thanks! In order to have AC passthrough and use AC without battery when plugged in and in case there is a utility failure, switch over and use the battery. How would one do that?

MPP Solar 1012 vs DIY Milk Crate

Hi guys! I'm building a crate powerstation as well. ?My question is: Could the power supply be replaced by a battery charger like the Victron Blue Smart IP65? Also, in order to know soc, do I need a shunt? Thanks for your time, Henric

    Simple modular UPS

Well, since utility never goes out, I guess. Solar would, however, offset the bill a bit later on. For now, it's more of a learning project, correct. Would the equipment run off of the inverter at all times, meaning alway be powered by the battery? There is no way to provide 230VAC to the loads...

    Simple modular UPS

I don't know really. Maybe around 1000 USD without the battery. Cheaper if possible of course.

    Simple modular UPS

I have used regular UPSes for decades bit want to build out something new. Also to get into electrics and learn. I guess I need some advice on actual components to buy. Brands etc. I am looking into Victron and so on but have no clear picture of i can combine them to do what I want. Thanks!

    Simple modular UPS

I am sorry if o am unclear. If powergrid goes out, I want all equipment that is connected to my UPS system to keep running for a few hours. If power returns, I want the AC to take over and begin recharging the batteries also. Is this clear?

    Simple modular UPS

Hi guys! I need some advice. I want to build a relatively small UPS for my office equipment. I have a fullsize computer and 30" monitor, NAS and a macbook air M2. It's not a lot in terms of wattage, maybe 200W or so. Maybe a little higher when booting the computer. My thinking is to have AC...
