I'd be interested in having a look at the code. I have written python to extract the data from the Tracer line of charger controllers (over modbus), and display them on a 5" 12V automotive screen that is attached to my rig. I've ordered UART modules to go with my Overkill BMS(s), and now I...
  • Post in thread: Questions about Xiaoxiang App

Thanks! How does one go about purchasing the full-blown version of the app?
  • Post in thread: Ordered 8x272ah Lishen Cells from Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan

Another update : I do not have the batteries yet, but I just got the automated Alibaba email that gets sent out 60 days after the (sea) shipment started. Not very efficient on the part of Alibaba Trade Assurance to list the shipment as complete, without checking the FedEx tracking number to see...

Dumb question : on the Xiaoxiang app, is cell#1 the closest to the positive terminal, or the closest to the negative?
  • Post in thread: Lishen 272AH thread?

I thought about this myself, but my thoughts were : there is enough energy stored in these cells to re-ignite the fire after the initial outbreak was extinguished. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with these, though. For my own fire-resistant setup, I have my...
  • Post in thread: Lishen 272AH thread?

fwiw, regarding the fire, I had a solar charger detonate on me 2 years ago. My PV voltage was under the limit (even with temp coeff included), but I heard a large pop while working in the garage, and flames started coming out of the unit. Inside the unit, it looked like one of the wires might...

Update (after Chinese New Year shutdown) : I was told that there had been a container fire, and that the cargo needs to be inspected and re-packaged. It has already been 67 days since I paid for the batteries. Looks like I'll be waiting another 3-4 weeks. I am reminded of something I was once...
  • Post in thread: Ordered 8x272ah Lishen Cells from Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan

Update (a cautionary tale) : from the other threads, it looks like I was not the only victim of the container fire incident in Dec/Jan. Most of the cells arrived 3 months after payment (not a complaint), but whoever did the repackaging in California was a complete moron. They taped 1" foam...

Unfortunately, my 16 Lishen 272 cells from Luyuan have been sitting in Long Beach, CA since Feb 1st (shipped out of China late last year). They had supposedly cleared customs at that time, but FedEx has yet to pick them up. I mention this just in case others have also been waiting.
  • Post in thread: Questions about Xiaoxiang App

I was looking for the "Pro" version that allows me to actually change the settings.
  • Post in thread: Questions about Xiaoxiang App

It seems to default to 100Ah capacity, despite entering 280Ah when I fire up the BMS for the first time. When I try to change the value in the parameter settings, it accepts my change to 280 but it does not store it (i.e. when I come back to that menu, the value has been changed back to 100).

    Got it; thanks, guys!

I hear what you are saying. I went into this thinking that Alibaba is some fly-by-night "crap from China" company, but I thought I'd take a gamble anyway. I guess I wasn't far off the mark, because the (non optional) Alibaba Trade Assurance I paid for wasn't worth it.
  • Post in thread: JDB BMS -- New open source tool

I am a hardware guy, and am pretty much ignorant when it comes to classes, methods, library packages, and software in general (but I'm learning; slowly). Does anyone have a way to make use of this package from the command line (or using a very simple python script) on a Raspberry Pi running...
