FINALLY finished my 11kw DIY.
I’ve been working on this since May, and finally powered it up last night with today being the first day testing… and it didn’t disappoint. Sol-ark 8K with 11kw URE 395w Bi-facial panels on a Sinclair Designs Skyrack 2.0 adjustable. Have 15kwh Jakiper rack mount...
Yes, it’s a closet. I barely had the 6” clearance on each side and I was concerned about heat also so I added vents through the wall on the right (heat rejection) so it blows the heat into my basement.
Any ideas why I’m only producing 1200 watts in full sun? ?
In all seriousness though, I think my choice to go with bifacial panels was money well spent.
Just completed my second 280ah 16s pack using cells from Docan and am very happy. I tested about half of the cells and all were slightly above 290ah @2.6v and 40a draw down. Couldn’t be happier.
I ordered (32) CATL 280 cells from Jenny Wu and Docan a couple months back. All showed up in perfect shape with capacities above stated. I won’t hesitate to buy from them again in the future.
Also interested and searching. What seems to be missing from what I can see, even though it is stated that it has "485/CAN" communications, is that I dont see an RJ485 connection nor anything in the manual for node addressing.
OP… I bought one of those hydraulic hex crimpers but it never worked right for me. As mentioned, it makes loose connections unless you use the next smaller die, then it leaves barbs on the lug.
This one is MUCH better, makes very very tight connections and leaves them nice and round.

Based on my research, batteries with CAN communication seem to be basically plug-and-play for SOC and Temp comms with Sol-ark. With RS485 it seems to have more potential as it can read voltages at the cell level, but I havent played with that. For reference, EG4 and Jakiper batteries do work...
NY.
Already finding that my inspector ( from a short call) isn’t totally versed on solar and especially on storage.
I’m already worried that he will continue to demand a disconnect at the meter. While I’m not opposed to the idea, my meter is 100’ away from the inverter and would require...
I’m pretty sure that wall mount from Orient Power is the same BMS as the Jakiper (pre “pro” version)
For what it’s worth, I have been able to get all battery specs for each battery through SolarAssistant by linking and addressing the Jakipers through the 485 ports, then using the rs232 serial...
Nice! I live on the East coast now but spent 16 years in Oregon. Post is in the middle of nowhere... I love that place. Would be a great place for solar.
The thing is a beast, I love it. Used it on crimps from 8awg to 2/0 just last night. Over 30 crimps with zero issues. Stress tested the setup at max amp draw and not a single warm connection found on the thermal. ?
I’ve tried both load and battery priority.
Thanks for the responses. I will reach out to them and see if they can help with my question. They have been very good to work with.
Ive been doing quite a bit with AltE, and they have been great! I would recommend.
Signature... is on the bubble for me. I did order a full pallet of bifacial panels from them as well as some other items, all of which showed up in perfect condition and timely, however the panels were sold as...
Hello all. I have a Sol-ark 8k with 15kw batteries. Im trying to figure out if I can program this so that I am in Limited-to-home mode during the day when I have PV, but then at night only discharge my batteries to the load. Currently I have time of use set with my battery voltages to discharge...
This exactly. I had (have) the same issue on all 4 of my packs and this corrected it completely. I can get very near 100% SOC with 3.5/cell, it doesn’t take much longer than 3.6 and I have zero issues with large imbalances.
I did a top balance on them as well, but small differences in cell...

I’ve had no issues with the wattage settings in TOU. Seems to always perform as set. However, I don’t sell back to grid so I wouldn’t have seen this anyhow. Is that TOU block set at a different voltage, or atleast lower than 51.2v as you indicated? Might try that potentially.
