Nice install! I’ve been thinking about moving my system from the garage into a trailer I can park next to my pole barn solar array (16kW). I’m concerned about hanging two 200lb spf 12k inverters on a trailer wall. Did you get any specs on the load rating for the trailer walls?
There is a way. There is a utility you can download to a laptop and adjust the voltage calibration using the USB interface. Signature Solar has the utility posted on a Google drive (I don’t know the link at the moment). You can contact their technical support team and get the details.
I found with solar assistant I could fix this exact issue by going int the configuration menu, click the “settings “ link on the inverter status line, select the misbehaving inverter from the list (if you have more than one), select the “edit” link on the Battery Settings option and change the...
Pro Tip (TM) : if you use Solar Assistant, you can get the SCCs to start working by changing the cutoff voltage settings by editing the inverter settings in the configuration tab and click save. Apparently programming a new value causes the SCC to start working. I keep my cutoff set to 56.4 but...
I have observed similar behavior with both of my growatt SPF-12k inverters. About once a month, the MPPTs in one of the units won’t “start” even though the PV voltage is well above the startup voltage and the battery voltage is well below the charge cutoff voltage. If I change the cutoff voltage...
Just to be clear: The original issue in this thread is related to an SCC to communicate with an Inverter via RS485 connections with a standard CAT5e patch cable. I haven't had any issues with the inverter communicating with an EG4 battery via RS485 or via a USB-to-485 adapter cable.
I have an off-grid inverter/batteries/panels which handles most of my loads but certain peak conditions (AC + Oven + Electric Dryer + Microwave) takes the system over the 12kW limit. Splitting the panel is difficult and costly so i though maybe a grid-tie inverter with additonal panels (and...
Never got it to work. Growatt support hasn't responded and Signature Solar hasn't been able to find a solution either. At this point I can either check the display on the SCC or estimate the output from how much power is going to the battery+load via the monitoring dashboard:
The manual (v1.0) that came with the 80A version (SC 4880 MPV) shows how to connect and program them, but when I couldn't get it to work. Signature Solar tech support apparently couldn't get it to work either. No response from Growatt Tech support (which is my biggest complaint with them: they...
I take the silence as nobody else is either using a Growatt MPPT charge controller or doesn't have this issue. If you are using one and it works, I'd love to know what you did.
That's pretty cold. Here in Florida we don't see those temps ever so I don't have experience running equipment under those conditions. However, I do know my two systems generate their own heat during normal operations so would suspect that a system you put together in your shed would "self...
