    Going off-grid questions

AntronX this goes GPM, gallons per minute= 800 = 48,000, 576,000 gallons per 1/2 day. Bit big to store. Sorry. I will do some research this coming summer with logging the power consumed during 24 hrs.

    Going off-grid questions

Thanks for all the good info. One issue popped in my eye, the transmission is usage related and what I should try to do is lower the usage when I have to buy, take from the grid. I have to think about that a little and for a while :fp2

    Going off-grid questions

One has to order water 24 hrs in advance, with approximate application time and amount (") and the water is allocated through the system (canals, ditches & pipelines). To understand this, it is relatively forgivable for one pivot in an irrigation district of say 300,000 acre, but if all 300,000...

    Going off-grid questions

Yes AntronX, this would mean turning the irrigation off at night or during low sunshine activity, correct. This would not be an option. Remember, I would have over 10 years about CAD60,000 to invest from not having to pay for the T&D. If the system works longer then 10 years I am well ahead and...

    Going off-grid questions

@AntronX 'What brand/model is your VFD?' Lenze ESV303-4T- it serves the pivot pressure with one set-point and the yard sprinkler systems with two other set-points. Our meters are by-directional. no ToU. Batteries can be located indoors, does the room need special ventilation? We probably...

    Going off-grid questions

Hello again, I didn't have much time this week to answer. My winter production is round 1/2 of summer, but when I take the irrigation on to the yard, I produce in winter month what I need. My production is 23% higher than my usage, after going over all numbers more accurate then before. I...

    Going off-grid questions

Hello, I live in Alberta and have sufficient PV production to generate my yearly usage. Here my details: 2010 House and farm shop that uses ~30,000 kWh/year, 2,800 kWh/month winter purchased, 1,200 kWh/month summer purchase - 208VAC 3ph, 200 Amp main panel 2011 Irrigation pump & pivot using...

    Service Size Calculation

Well, I got egg on my face. My chief electrician was out today and did the calculations quickly and we also looked the amp's up for the the Apsystems YC1000-3-3 and it is 3.14 amp for the 208 V inverter and 1.35 amp for the 480 V. So, 18 (YC1000-3-3 on 208) x 3.14= 56.52 amp. Presently I have...

    Service Size Calculation

Yes, 200 amp. The distance from the transfer switch to the splitter is 4', so right underneath the transfer switch. the 200 amp breaker panel is also right above the splitter, to the right of the transfer switch. My wire size calculator says # 12 copper or #10 alu wire and we have #2 alu.

    Service Size Calculation

Thanks Danke & Bkord, The power comes from the meter to a non fused switch to go to line or a generator, center position is disconnect it carries on to a 225 Amp 3ph splitter and the 200 amp main panel (I assume the busbar?). Can I go of the splitter with a 100 amp fused disconnect to my PV...

    Service Size Calculation

Hello, I am planning to increase my 10kWh PV system to 18 kWh. My service is 208 V 3ph, 200 AMP main panel, 200 AMP service from my line co. The inspector said that my potentially 89 AMP, (call is 100 AMP) production from 18 x APSYSTEMS YC1000 would need to be added to my main panels size of...

    Thermal Energy Storage

Ground water aquifers are deep here. I have looked at many records for wells drilled and many report static water levels deeper then 60-80' and deeper. Here you can look: Wells Drilled

@OzSolar, looks-like you know it well ;) @Warpspeed, you are probably right and we let it rest. Anyone knows this: Drake Landing
