Help for building a solar solution for a .33 horsepower AC well pump for watering livestock in S. Texas

To run an EG4 3000 watt inverter you will need a PV input of greater than 120 volts, so for me I used arrays of 5 240 watt panels from Santan Solar at $40 a piece. You might get away with 4 panels to get to 120 volts, the power output max would be in the range of 7 amps and if that pump is...

Help for building a solar solution for a .33 horsepower AC well pump for watering livestock in S. Texas

I have 6 EG4 batteries , but I am running the whole house. For a small pump running for such a short time every day I am sure you could get by with just one battery or even a few lead acid 12 volt batteries in series.

Help for building a solar solution for a .33 horsepower AC well pump for watering livestock in S. Texas

So If centrifugal pumps are so inefficient why are they the backbone of process industries? Positive displacement pumps have a place but not due to their efficiency for sure but for specialised applications high pressures being one of them. Most modern well pumps are centrifugal and manage quite...

    Low battery voltage alarm

Are you set at user defined batt or the lipo 4 setting, I think user defined may get the low voltage setting at the inverter set level while the lipo 4 setting will get you low alarm from the battery BMS if you are using the EG4 batteries.

Hooterville Co Op noticed my EG4 Solar A/C with 2700W ground mount panels - need advice on response?

I have real difficulty understanding the story about an inverters feeding back into the lines and electrocuting anyone. When I was much younger I was involved with power distribution and most power lines were isolated and grounded before anyone was allowed to work on them, 3kv dc overheads were...

    off grid system

Whereabout are you Wilsey, North Island or South Island could make some difference in your power needs. With your cimate I am sure that you can do without air conditioning which we require with summer temperatures here getting above the mid thirties with high humidity in some areas. If you are...

    Question on All-in-one Inverter

You can switch off the EG4 3000 and if you have PV input it will charge your batteries when there is no longer PV input after a short while it shuts doen the display and goes to sleep. It will then wake up in the morning when there is again a PV input and the display will come on and it will...

Any benefit of two (2) smaller AIO units vs one (1) larger?

We live in a world of uncertainty financialy with inflation and the future of the dollar in question, so at todays prices you know what you are getting and who knows what tomorrows prices could be. Then there is the threat of 2030 nett zero what will grid energy prices be then? and what will...

I have an eg4 with two sungold 550 watt panels

Actually he loses nothing as both of the systems on their own will not meet the 120 voly requirement for the EG4 3000's PV input. Better to get another 550W-50V/13A panel to get more power or just settle for the 5.6amps.

Any benefit of two (2) smaller AIO units vs one (1) larger?

Actually the unit turns off after a while when there is no income from the PV, so I would say there is no further current draw until power is produced by the PV array.

got fined 1k for an off-grid, 500 dollar, 9 panel system i lay on the roof

What kind of strength training does an 79 year old have to have to build and fit 5S5P arrays together dig the trenches and fit in the conduit and with the help of a 76 year old wife pull all the cables into the conduit. So 25 panels each weighing about 40lbs a piece over a couple of days is no...

Any benefit of two (2) smaller AIO units vs one (1) larger?

I am presently running 2- 3kw EG4 inverters, run 2 from 7am to 10pm powering a well pump, A/C window units, washing machine, refrigerator freezer, 1500watt water heater, and other small appliances. I shut one down every night at 10 pm just to save the idle current and one unit handles the load...

    Constructive feedback and suggestions

Well I guess I have been confused since the 4th of January 1960 when I started my career in electrical engineering, so we will just leavr it up to the experts.
