Hey Craig, if you do more orders and have enough people along the west coast between LA and Seattle, I would be willing to pick up and deliver to people for a reasonable price if you have a large enough quantity. Could possibly deliver to other areas if there are large enough quantities to make...
I am basically doing the exact setup you are, 8 280ah cells, 3000w inverter. I chose to go with the 24v setup using a Victron 24/3000 combo inverter charger. It has multiple AC inputs so I can switch between shore and generator, and the 3000w is low frequency and can boost to 6000w for several...
Anyone know how the quality of these compare to the Q Cells Q.PEAK-DUO-L-G8.2-420 420 watt panels? I found the Q Cells for about $60 more than these Trina panels, is the quality worth the extra cost?
Why the need to top balance LiFePo4 batteries? Does the BMS not take care of that by doing a balance charge? Just trying to understand before I build my first 24v battery. Most of my previous experience has been with 18650 battery packs and I have a charger that balances them while charging...
I don't have a lot of uninterrupted roof space on my RV so I am trying to figure out if there is a way to mount panels over top of everything. I was considering some kind of roof rack that is taller than the vents so I can have a solid sheet of panels over the entire roof space, then an angled...
What solar panels are people going with that have limited roof space? I'm trying to figure out the best option for the most power density. I'm willing to pay more to be able to get more watts on my limited roof space of my Coachmen Prism 2200le.
That's kind of what I was thinking, the shade from the panels would help keep it cooler. I'm concerned that if I don't leave an empty slot behind the AC that the heat blowing off of it might have negative effects on the panels? Or do you think there would be enough air gap that it'd just blow...
I found some videos showing how to do this using a resistor and multi meter, but it didn't say what resistor to use. Does it matter? Is there a better way? I want to see how well matched my cells are. They were supposed to come matched and balanced from the seller, but it appears 1 of them at...
I'm hoping with a proper wind fairing up front that there shouldn't be too much drag, but I guess I need to be concerned about side wind also. Hmmm, anyone know the best way to mount something like this so it won't tear off with a strong side wind?
I am currently planning on doing a 24v 280ah battery conversion on my RV. I want to be able to run the microwave and AC for short time periods, possibly add more battery power for longer periods later, so thinking of a 3000w inverter. Most BMS that I have looked at seem to max out at 100a and...
I have made my own bus bar using 3/4" L copper tubing and was wondering if anyone has done similar for cable lugs? I'm thinking maybe 1/2" M or N would work fine. Use a vise to crush the end and drill a whole, leaving 1/2-1" length to insert wire to crimp. Thoughts?
Ya, I'm starting to wish I had gone 48 volt. Had I known then what I know now, I would have. Kind of too late now since I invested quite a bit in 24 volt Victron equipment.
@Airtime I appreciate your and @Cal suggestions! It sounds like our setup is closer than you might have thought as my RV is built on a Sprinter chassis. ? @Kev0 you can get a second alternator setup for the Sprinters and have a dedicated 24v alternator, but it's not cheap. It might be possible...
I did a little more research on these and also discovered that the PTC Power Rating for the Trina panels is only 301w of the original 400w rating, while the Q Cells panel is 394.29W. That's almost 100w loss in real world use on the Trina panels compared to what they rate them at! Can anyone...
Has anyone used these panels before? I was thinking about a couple of these on the roof of my Coachmen Prism due to the limited roof space I have and wanting to maximize the wattage density. Wanting to know anyone's experience working with them.
What kind of price are you finding on these? I have been looking at the 420 watt version of these Q Cells Q.PEAK-DUO-L-G8.2-420 . Are you using these on an RV roof, or what is your use case on these?
