3000watt Growatt Solar Inverter 24v with 80A MPPT charger. 2x Amperetime 200Ah LFP batteries for 24v with 4800Wh of capacity One huge wheeled storage organizer box. This is my first time building anything like this. I'd never even used a hydraulic crimper or clamp meter before so everything was...
  • Post in thread: are 96V LiFePO4 a good idea?

Are your PV's capable of putting out hundreds of amps at that voltage? The voltage being high is a problem because it starts becoming enough to overcome skin resistance and start forming a path through your limbs. The huge danger with batteries at that voltage though is the amount of amps they...
  • Post in thread: Safety Concerns for 48V Battery in RV

Oh you want to charge a 12v battery off 48v, not run a 12v appliance? I was thinking you wanted to remove the 12v battery and just buck convert down to 12 for your accessories. Less points of failure. For charging a 12v battery off 48v you'd just need a DC/DC battery charger. They are fairly...
  • Post in thread: I don't trust SOK batteries. My experience so far

I ordered my batteries which were 'in stock' back in mid April. My credit card was charged immediately, and yet it never shipped. I waited days, weeks, and finally contacted them about it. I was told they would ship May 10th and that they only just arrived at their warehouse. I was then told it...
  • Post in thread: I don't trust SOK batteries. My experience so far

You're welcome to do business like that but I don't like that the expectation was for immediate ship, that they keep changing their story, and that they charged up front before shipping. Those are all huge warning signs. If you don't understand why that is risky to you, or are willing to take...
  • Post in thread: I don't trust SOK batteries. My experience so far

I've been refunded promptly. If they set expectations on when something will ship at the time the order is placed, and if they pro-actively communicate updates, and don't charge for an item until it ships, they will inspire more confidence from buyers. And I do agree their batteries seem pretty...
  • Post in thread: Pulled the trigger on a 24v 4800 w/hr LFP with a Growatt 3k MPPT/Charger/Inverter

$1200 each? $799 each. There are a few sellers and pages for ampertime on amazon, use Wills link in his latest video, that seller has 100ah for 499 and 200ah for 799. So $1731 for both batteries total, shipped. The inverter is 799 with prime shipping, and the rest was on the tools and wiring...
  • Post in thread: Safety Concerns for 48V Battery in RV

Maybe it's obvious to others but I'm going to ask anyway; why not use a bucky converter? It can take any higher voltage, and provide reliable and steady voltage on the output as long as it's a lower voltage. IE it can easily and efficiently convert 48v to 12v. Would that not be the simplest...
  • Post in thread: 13 kWh Lishen van build

With loctite, you may get better results applying it to the threads of the bolt, and letting it cure in the open air for a few days until it dries. It does not need to be liquid in order to work. Once it dries onto the bolt like a thin crust, you shouldn't have any problems with fluid pressure...
  • Post in thread: Question about battery chemical/fire safety

I'm a long time RC enthusiast so I have a lot of experience with LiPo packs, and I don't trust them even a little. I store my small <5000mah 6 cell packs in ammo cans wrapped in ceramic wool for instance. Lipo doesn't just burn, it explodes outward and outgasses flames like a blast furnace. I...

I didn't even lose power in North Dallas, but knowing half the state was without due to demand, I couldn't bring myself to turn on the heat, so froze my butt off at 54 inside the house all week. I had 3 quilts and an electric blanket on my bed at night and it was 45 degrees in my back bedroom...

  • Post in thread: Ruixu 220ah batteries?

I haven't been able to find any posts, videos, or information about these ruixu 220ah pre-built batteries I'm finding on amazon. Their lower capacity batteries seem to be kits and Will did a review of their 40ah kit, but this is a complete battery in a metal enclosure. I'm about to pull the...

I had been putting off building a solar battery while I learned more about the options available, costs, and all the nitty gritty details. Wills videos helped a LOT in learning about things I never even thought about before. I had considered the Blueti 2000watt solar generator due to the low...

It was not my intent to be condescending. We're all friends here. I just want folks to be safe, don't we all?

  • Post in thread: IT LIVES! 24v 200Ah 3000watt Solar Battery/UPS

It came with a USB cable and software on a mini cd (which I can't use) but I haven't checked out that side of it yet. It also came with what looks like a serial port cable. Probably used for split phase or something. I ordered a killawat and a clamp probe splitter for AC so I can measure the...
  • Post in thread: Question about battery chemical/fire safety

Same. I have a chemical fire exteinguisher by my charging station along with a monitored smoke detector, and another in my garage where I store them with a 2nd monitored detector. Even having old cell phones and laptops laying around makes me nervous after seeing what a lipo fire looks like...

Yeah not all the meters I looked at would do DC amps, or do DC amps high enough for our use case. It seems like a good tool but mine is the 380 not 390. Don't know the difference between them.

Only for extended outages like the laughably un-rolling blackouts in Texas last month. I plan to have 4 100W panels just in case. I'd use solar more often if I had a good place to put them. I'm in an HOA situation so can't just slap them on the roof without going through a lot of red tape.

Have you ever seen a hotdog cooked instantly, from cold to flaming hot in under a second? That is what high voltage DC can do to a limb. If you were equipped and trained to handle 96v you wouldn't be asking if it were a good idea or not. My 2cents.
