I have done the wiring in my house, but don't feel confident yet. My batteries and inverter are new. I don't want to do it wrong.

I am just getting started. I have an Eg4 6500, and 2 Eg4 48v 100ah batteries. I will be charging with my generator. I was told to contact the batteries to the inverter with 2/0 cable, but the spot to screw it to the batteries is not enough space and the wire that comes with the battery is a lot smaller gauge. How do I connect them?
