    Another broken stud story

Not sure I see a problem. Take it to a metal shop throw a few TIG tacks on it and call it a day.

    2 Millisecond short

This has been an interesting thread. I've learned that this forum is mostly speculation by folks who have a lot more time than experience on their hands. I have already been running this exact battery in the E Class, under my hood, for two years, with no BMS, no balancer, and no problems. I...

    2 Millisecond short

If the current draw from the subwoofer amplifier occurs in series, such as in the frequency of a kick drum in a song, would the overcurrents be constantly tripping the BMS cutoff? The dilemmas caused by adding a BMS seem to be introducing more problems than solutions. Guys run Lithium all day...

    2 Millisecond short

If the car current consumption is 100A, and my subwoofer amplifier spikes to 250A, will the BMS cut charging? If the spike is transient, will the BMS restore charging as soon as it senses a return to acceptable current draw? I had a good, simple idea and you guys had to go and make it all...

    2 Millisecond short

I guess I just need the manual for that BMS and figure out how it works. So if one cell runs into the 4's, for example, the BMS cuts charging to the battery and the car dies? What if the Benz doesn't like running on only alternator? CAN it run on only alternator? Is the BMS always on? What is...

    2 Millisecond short

So a little update. Got the battery case and put it together. It's not finished, have yet to drill holes, mount terminals, etc., but you get the idea. So thanks to you guys I realized the error in my ways. I should re-wire the cells in 4S3P, so that I only require one BMS, and thanks also to...

    2 Millisecond short

I'll pull the jumpers then and start charging each cell to 3.6v

Passively balancing like this put them all at exactly 3.272 the first time I balanced them. I let them sit for a week.

    2 Millisecond short

So just start by charging them individually with the power supply to 3.60 then top balance?

That's Stimpy, he's not going to let me make anymore mistakes on this build. I just hope he doesn't rip the fun chewy jumpers off and short anything out. Fried kitty cat!

Ok, we are balancing. I'll let that sit for a couple days and see where we're at. Then I'll work on charging, then top balancing.

    2 Millisecond short

I appreciate all the help, guys, thanks. I'm in a holding pattern until the jumpers get here Wednesday. Unless I can get 24 clips and the time to build my own (no time!) When I get them, I'll balance, charge, and report back!

Might try the solder that DBC suggested. MAybe rule out bad jumpers by testing resistance after the solder application? They're already on the way. But I think I'll take your advice and just build a good set of jumpers for future projects. These were just to get around having to disassemble the...

    2 Millisecond short

Right, the temp circuit. My alts (all 3 are DC Power billet) are custom set to 14.8v. My Maxima alternator is on-the-fly variable, as I added a potentiometer in series with the ALT-S lead. So I can bump the voltage up to 15.5 or so if I am listening really hard for a period of time (remember LTO...

    2 Millisecond short

Did not know that, thanks. So then I will leave the jumpers in place in a parallel configuration and charge with the power supply to 3.65v. My alternator set point is 14.8v, and it creeps down to the 14.6's after it warms up and gets hot.
