Just to close the loop if anyone runs into this type of situation in the future... I contacted the Solar Assistant support email and explained what I was looking for. Within 24 hours, i received a reply that an option to change the power save mode on the EG4 3000EHV inverter had been added to...

Hey all, couldn't find this topic searching, so I'm wondering if it's not possible or I'm just missing something. I have a fully off grid RV with an EG4 3000, two lifepower4 5kwh 48v batteries, and 12 rich solar panels (well, 6 currently, installing still). I have no generator or shore power...
  • Post in thread: Need some "smart" ideas for turning off EG4 3000 at night.

In my case it's in an RV that I've converted everything possible to DC, so there are very few AC loads and they are tightly controlled. It sounded like the OP had a similar situation since it is a remote property and they've done similar work converting things to run directly from DC off the...

When you say you want to turn the inverter off after it stops charging, are you just looking to stop the ~70w/hr base draw of the inverter? If that's the case, here are a few things I learned as I built my RV system around a 300EHV-48 last year: 1) "Power Save" mode on the inverter turns off...

Unfortunately none of this applies. Any of the stated options would still leave the inverter itself "on" and not switch the inverter to power save mode. When "on", it draws parasitic load even if nothing is connected. I'm looking for an option to change the inverter configuration remotely. I...
  • Post in thread: Battery wiring limits for large systems?

I may be using the wrong search terms, but I've been unable to find a definitive answer... I'm designing an off-grid system that needs significant storage (along with significant number of panels) as it it up at high elevation and short days with snow are not uncommon in the winter. I've in...
  • Post in thread: Cost to produce energy?

Sounds like your issue is considering the paid for system a "past cost". You need to amortize the cost of the system over the expected lifetime of the system, and then figure out what the generation capacity is in that timeframe, to understand your $/kwh or whatever your metric will be.

Yep, I did, and it works as expected. That being said, after living with it further, it may or may not be needed depending on the situation. In my case, the solar system is in an RV. I have tried, and continue to, run as much off the DC side directly from battery as possible. The only things...

Power saving mode is definitely not well understood or documented. I did not contact signature solar to work on it at all - my install is in another state and when I was there, i was only able to really test anything in the evenings as I was busy with projects during the day. I have certainly...
