Thanks it was the BMS entering sleep mode. Setting sleep waiting time to 15300s the BMS did not enter sleep mode and did not shut off after 2 weeks idle. So hopefully this is solved.
With 'Idle' I mean fully disconnected. Bluetooth monitor shows it is fully charged but the output stays disconnected. Once I connect a charger for a few seconds the BMS starts working again.
Cells are stable at around 3.3 V each. BMS shows
- discharge MOS = ON
- charge MOS = ON
This only happens when battery is disconnected for a long time. Otherwise with frequent use the BMS works as it should.
Thanks for the detailed explanation and fuse ideas.
Note about parallel cells - As you said 95% of market cells are not proper grade A. However with cells in parallel there is very little risk of stressing one cell unless they have a lot of capacity imbalance. Problems may occur if the total...
Hello everyone. I am new to LiFePO4 cells. My aim is to build a 12V house battery for my boat.
I bought 4 cells 200Ah from BLS (supposedly Grade A). The cells have black coating not Blue and they are unbranded but built quality and QR code looks ok.
On unpacking cells are a bit uneven with...
That's my next question. So far I am testing the cells separately. After discharge there is still some swelling but less. So should I compress them on full charge or discharged? And should I try to compress-inn the swelling or leave some space where the cells can swell?
My BMS (Bluetooth app) is showing a little discrepancy in the current reading.
Charging at 9A it shows 9.3A on the app.
Discharging at 7.6A shows -7.3A.
Is there a way to calibrate it please?
I have little room between the battery and the top shelf and the connector for the display it too high and wont fit.
Has anyone found a 90 deg adapter for the display connector - Cable A to Cable B connection?
I have Daly BMS with 4 cells for 12V battery. I am planning to install it as house battery on my boat however it is shutting off after around 2 weeks idle. It will need a little charging to turn On again. Is this normal for Daly BMS and is there a way to turn off this fault/feature?
Have tried a 10ohm resistor across the BMS with a push button. However the BMS does not clear the error by itself.
To clear the error have to push the button, enable Emergency and wait until the protection timeout while keeping the button pressed. Then I can disable emergency.
I have built a new battery with JK BMS (B2A8S20P) and installed on a boat. Everything works fine until the battery is disconnected. On reconnecting battery, the BMS gives a SC protect error. I traced the fault to the Multiplus Inverter - if disconnected the BMS works fine.
Tried switching...
I have limited the max charging current from shore power so total wont exceed the BMS limit. My BMS has CAN/484 bus so can connect it to Multiplus but probably wont do it as at 14.1V should not exceed any cell limits.
I am building a house battery for a boat consisting of 24 (280K) cells. It is a 12V system and onboard inverter is rated at 3kW so the max current is around 300A.
I was looking at the JK smart BMS but the max current they have is 200A.
Can I separate them in two batteries and connect them in...
