There will be a galvanized steel enclosure protecting the interior plywood. My first version was all steel and it when up in smoke, so I am trying to keep a layer of plywood between the steel and the batteries this time.
After smoking my first battery pack this summer ( I tried to get something to together quickly and paid for it). I am posting my concept for my second version and last set of batteries. These go on a school bus that was converted into an RV. The bus vibrates a lot, so it is a rough ride...
yes the only a fuse on the positive cable. The negative is connected to the chassis after the main bus after the shunt and DCC.
The nut was welded to the support during my first short while when I tried to remove the main positive before replacing the fuse (photo 20210625_165229.jpg). I was on...
I wanted to put the top support across the middle before I found out the case of the battery is connected to the negative post, and the small amount of the case exposed near the vent was providing continuity to the bar across there, so I only placed that one in the middle like your starter...
First, everyone was fine and I was able to stop the fire before it spread to other parts of the RV.
With that out the way I had an unexpected fire in one of my two battery packs(photos attached). Each one of them is a “48” volt system with 16 of the Basen 280 AH LiFePo4 cells. Each pack has a...
Yep checked that one. Temp limits are off. Voltage limits 1000mV.
The weird behavior continued with the troubled BMS. It dies a couple more times and I was on the side of the road trying to reach the on off switch and despite the power cycling it the DCC status light was out and the...
I found the connection between dc negative and vehicle chassis was 36 M ohms. Also the connection that was not firing was the charging relay. Checked all the connections and it seems ok.
I fixed that and the BMS seemed to be better. Let it run on solar for an day and then I let it charge on...
I got home last night and plugged the RV into a 15amp circuit, with my Charger (Quattro) off. Woke up this morning and the solar charging the batteries.... The only difference I can see if the ground provided by the 120 circuit. Looks like I will be chasing a grounding issue.
I am missing something. I see nothing that would cause the DCC to open..
All the cells are about 3.3 volts with a spread of 41mV. Other than it being hot, but I have the thermal alarms off and set at 70C with 30C difference. ... its about 100F out in the Southwest today so they are only a...
Thanks. I lowered the charge profile from Victrons LiFepo4 default on the solar charger(it was 56v bulk and 54 float) based on snobbery comment.
I appreciate the note on the faulty SOC shutoff and have turned that off. I tweaked the rest of the setup like yours( adjusted for 48 v 280...
Has anyone had problems with their chargery DCC disconnecting without an alarm on the BMS?
I have 16 eve 280ah batteries mounted under my rv connected to an 16t bms with 600 amp shunt and DCC. Twice the DCC has cutout while all the cell voltages and temperatures are in in the acceptable...
I received a batch of batteries, 32 of 280 ah Basen EVE cell. They were sold as 3.2v 1.5mohm matched set. With no IR tester I am trying to figure out how to sort these into two 16 pack sets. I put on a 0.5 ohm load resistor on, but that only seems to confirm I do not have the right hardware...
