We'll be living on Dabob Bay near the community of Coyle (address is Quilcene). There is no power to the property currently. The plan is to use solar (I'm thinking of starting with ~1kW) topped off as needed with a pair of 3500w generators to charge our laptops, phones, power tools, and...
Thanks to both of you. Just to demonstrate how little I know, most of what @smoothJoey wrote is Greek to me. I'll do a bunch of searching and reading before I start asking questions (I've moderated forums on other subjects before so I get it).
I'll have to dig up the emails and post back. They all came in at at least $30k and their justification was that it's the Pacific Northwest (hour and a half west of Seattle) and while there's a ton of sunlight in the summer, the rest of the year is largely overcast or raining and the system...
There was one that was 13kW and one that was 15kW. I guess I ditched the emails after seeing the costs...can't find them. And the prices were just hardware...I've always intended to install it all myself.
Thanks! I get it...I just was kind of stupid going into this assuming that the hardware would cost less. Ultimately, the desire to go solar isn't a financial one...it's more of a desire to not (or less) reliant on others...
Honestly, there's a market for that. Solar is for some (idiots like me) pretty daunting when you actually start trying to put the puzzle together yourself...
Hi all. The wife and I are moving to Middle of Nowhere the Olympic peninsula in Washington state soon. We want to build out a small solar system that will suit our needs while we build our house but that is scalable so that we can add panels/storage/whatnot as our needs grow and as time and...
Hi all. Piecing together a smallish (1.2kw) system as a starting point for a much larger system based on suggestions from another post on this forum. I need to be able to top off the batteries with generators when the sun just isn't cutting it. I wanted to know if I must get an inverter/charger...
This is exactly why I'm looking to update the firmware on my pair of SP6548's. I just (today) upgraded from FLA batteries to the EG4 PowerPros. Settings all seem to be right, but BMS is not communicating with the inverter...ergo, the dreaded error 61.
So I'm searching (without luck) for firmware update files for my SP6548's. I've reached out to SGP and am waiting to hear back, but last time I chatted with them about firmware (a couple of years back) they wouldn't give up the goods. My current firmware version is 45.07 while the EG4 firmware...
