Sorry for the noob question..
I have 4 x 200ah lithium batteries. I have my solar charging 3 batteries at a time that is not connected to my RV and have been swapping out, when needed, the 4th (house battery) connected to the original RV wiring that feeds the 12v panel.
I'm ready to connect...
When I tested the system without the house battery hooked up, the 12v panel would not energize. I figure it was because the house battery neutral was grounded.. where as my battery bank was not grounded.
I just purchased the same Renogy Inverter/Charger. I plan to hook my portable 3500w Hyundai Inverter Generator to it as the 'Shore Power' feed. Do I ground my Generator to earth and the metal case of the Renogy unit to my Travel Trailer... or just one of them?
Hi Joey.. I found this old thread..
Q - What is the proper way to ensure a proper ground in a travel trailer when using a generator with a floating neutral hooked up to a Renogy 3000w inverter/generator as the shore power?
I have my 4 x 200ah batteries wired in parallel to the Renogy 3000w Inverter Charger at our travel trailer. I have set the battery parameter to Lithium battery on the Inverter Charger. I run strictly Solar and a backup generator wired to the Inverter Charger when its required. Is there a way...
Update.. I added the 4th battery in parallel and left the house negative wire attached to the 12v panel.. I ran #6 POS and NEG from my bus bars with a 100amp fuse to the 12v panel.. seems to be working now..
Question.. is the ground from the trailer negative (also #6 wire) suffice as the ground?
My first post after reading for months! Lots of great info on here, thank you.
We purchased a 'New to Us' 2014 Crossroads TT last summer. Looks and feels new. It has had zero upgrades from the previous owners. It has the typical 120v or propane/12v fridge, 1 rooftop A/C unit, propane or...
Thanks Joey. From what I gather from your drawing.. the inlet is the feed from the genny and the surge protector is a fuse/breaker.. Is this correct? And, the existing converter can be disconnected..
Inlet - Yes, the TT has one. We currently hook the Genny up to it.
Surge protector - Is this required if the only feed is from the Generator and not from shore power ever?
