I was gifted LIFEPO4 packs never used. Stored for 3 years. Cell voltage is 1.7V

Thanks all for the detailed replies. It is really helpful especially since I'm new to LIFEPO4 chemistry. Anyway, I charged the 24V packs (not individual cells) at 1/5C and both packs took in rated AH before BMS (or charger) shut things down at around 29.2V (3.65V/cell) It's been a few hours and...

I was gifted LIFEPO4 packs never used. Stored for 3 years. Cell voltage is 1.7V

Packs have never seen a load. Storage self-discharge is too low though One pack cell voltage is 1.7V The other pack cell voltage is 2.0V No visible swelling. Are these packs done?

Makeskyblue V118 SCC with 36v battery system

I ran into the same problem. Vendor (eBay makeskyblue_usa) never replied when I reached out. The only thing you can do is to hook it up to half-way charged 36V battery, set params, and never turn it off!?!? This is a fie waiting to happen.

Poor performance - Off grid All-in-one

More panels... Plan on scaling panel count to be able to provide at least 75% Kwh capacity of battery an typical day, while at same time covering 100% of house load during day. If you have lots of shady days, up panel count even more.

How frequently does your solar system need attention?

Since going online 6 months ago, I had to replace one fan in one of the charge controllers. Nothing else has needed servicing or updating. I do check DC/AC voltages (large panel meters visible from anywhere in garage) several times a day. I also shut system down and put circuits back on grid...

Current pool setup is 240VAC. Adding 2nd 110VAC pool pump and circulate during day.

That is one efficient pump! I'm looking into it. My "smart" pool system is currently a pretty high-end Hayward integration, so not sure how a non-Hayward pump will integrate into the system.

Current pool setup is 240VAC. Adding 2nd 110VAC pool pump and circulate during day.

Pool is only 5000gal "spool". I'm going to go ahead and transition filter circulation pump function (not jets) over to smaller 110VAC 3/4HP pump and put it on off-grid circuit. Will keep 240VAC pump and install 2nd pump by tapping into one of the suctions (it has 4....two in spool, and 2 in...

Is the generator used to charge the battery or power the load? Or both? Which one will the generator be used firstly?

In my situation, the generator charges the battery and does not directly power loads. The inverter draws from battery to power loads. 1/2 of my home's circuits are off-grid (selectable between grid&solar via 6-circuit transfer switch) I have a small inverter-generator that is setup (manual...

    Lithium battery charging question

Yes, you will indeed get more cycles. But you will need to INCREASE the #cycles to realize equivalent KWH of capacity (applies more to cars). .....or increase battery pack size to be able to provide enough KWH capacity to meet night/cloudy power requiements. Translation: Increase the number of...

Hacking Inverter-Generator: Remove Inverter and charge battery pack directly from generator

I'm leaning towards just plugging this into AC of generator (instead of modifying DC output of generator)...

Hacking Inverter-Generator: Remove Inverter and charge battery pack directly from generator

Interested in charging 16Kwh 36V battery directly from Inverter-Generator (Not interested in using powersupply tied to 120VAC output of inverter-generator. Has anyone ever removed/bypassed inverter portion of generator and dumped DC generator output (or rectified AC alternator output?) directly...

    Where has my wattage gone?

Are your batteries fully charged? MPP controller will scale back power-in to batteries when full.

Solar ESS project NIMH battery died. Replace w/Lithium?

Not exactly "large scale", but my 1st solar project w/ESS is pretty cool nonetheless. :) It has been going strong for almost 10 years. I used NIMH because of charging simplicity and robustness: *) 1/10C, battery will sink current without overcharge concerns *) Battery can be discharged to...

Do I really want to sell back?

I have 6 circuits "off-grid" (I use a 6-circuit transfer switch) right now. No net metering. Principle requirement is grid independence and power backup. My upfront cost is very low. Payback is 8 years based on Kwh production.....Duke powerbill will always be more than $50, so wont hit...

Toggling from one bank to another?

pullin_gs said: But you did not answer question as to how my application will burn down my house. Fair enough. You punted. :-) Having a thorough understanding of the issues (mainly having to do with disconnect arcing) and how it is mitigated by contact-design does indeed allow one to assess...
