Hi all, I am currently building a new off grid home (almost done) and have currently four - 6 volt GEL batteries in series/parallel configuration giving me a total of 520 amp hours. I have two 40 amp MPPT controllers tied in parallel to these batteries with 500 watts of panels in parallel tied...
  • Post in thread: How to power wood fireplace when power is out

I have a coal stove fireplace with a blower on it. It consumes .5 amps @ 120 volts or 60 watts. This converts to 5 amps @ 12 volts using an inverter. So for every hour of use you would need 5 amps of battery or 60 watts. In my situation I am consuming 1440 watts per day (24 hour period) with the...

Will you be running 2 - 40 amp controllers in parallel to your battery bank with 500watts of panels in parallel on each controller? 12 Volt system? The reason I ask is that my current set up is a 12 volt system and has 2 - 40 amp mppt controllers in parallel with 500 watts of panels (wired...

Hi there, actually I am getting by pretty well right now but plan on adding another 1000 watts. Really it's all dependent on your usage and needs. My consumption is very low. I use a propane fridge and for hot water I have a 6 gallon camper propane water heater. I cook with propane, I run dual...

Okay....so I have a bank of 6 volt GEL batteries in series/parallel configuration for a 12 volt system. GEL batteries when charging to a complete charge when charger goes into float is around 14.1 volts. This doesn't mean my batteries are over charged as they will eventually level out to 12.7...

    Your usage @ 90W/hour for 10 hours is 900 watts.... 48 volts x 100 amps = 4800 watts (total capacity) 4800 watts - 900 watts = 3900 watts (left after 10 hours) 50% is 2400 watts 60% is 2880 watts 70% is 3360 watts (your usage total is 3420 watts). <-------you are here (3900 watts after...

I did make a conversion with dual PC fans but didn't work out too well. The blower is a squirrel cage type and to replace with a dc squirrel cage it would consume the same wattage. Actually with my current set up it's no problem keeping it running 24/7.
