  • Post in thread: Is it possible to protect your Solar System against EMP?

EMP issues are very real for all commercially spec'd electronics - the US Electric Grid is, as are all grids around the world, quite vulnerable to natural and man made events. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/phenomena/sunspotssolar-cycle

Geothermal is very efficient - likely one of the best options out there. It must be evaluated on a case by case basis however. I personally would not rely on relatively shallow (less than 100 ft) ground water sources for open loop systems as there's a good possibility you'll run the well dry /...

Univ of Toledo passive product is extremely vague in its description -- likely "vaporware". I'm designing a brute force approach to ground mount snow removal and it's an"extension" of an axis tracker -- mechanize the whole array to go vertical / perpendicular to the ground so that snow slides...

  • Post in thread: Snow-Free solar

I agree - was hoping to put gravity to work to help resolve the issue.........I really don't want to spray deicers on the array if there's icy buildup -- not even sure if that's safe for the panels.
