Summer time peak rates will be $.81/kwh while off peak $.15/kwh and they won't ever get cheaper. SDGE (San Diego) has some of the highest electricity rates in the nation.
  • Post in thread: Portable power station paired with 48v ebike battery

I'm interested in finding a portable power station that can charge itself from an external 20ah 48v ebike battery I already own via the XT60 port used for the solar inputs on these products. I would have to find one that is able to accept a "solar" voltage input up to 48v? (I see many of the...

I'm curious if you could share who you used to install? and how you came to choose them? I'm SD based also and considering a set up with EG4 18K and new batteries sans solar. I figure finding an electrician to install equipment I source myself might be a decent sized obstacle

I haven't moved forward with anything yet. I want an 18kpv from eg4 with 2 of their new 14kwh batteries once they hit the California CEC list.

I don't have much in mind I need to power. I picture having it as a convenience for camping for low power things like lights or phone chargers maybe. I don't need give capacity because I can hopefully tap into the 20ah battery. Was hoping I could grab a compatible power station under 400 sometime

Interested in having an inverter and batteries without solar panels at this time. Unable to add panels to roof but want to have battery storage equal to one days use (well the 18 hours outside of super off peak rates that is with SDGE) HEAVIEST usage per multiple years of usage at this address...
  • Post in thread: Considering batteries without solar

I did the math on a recent $400 Bill. Over half of our use is already super off peak (the same rate I would charge my future batteries) but the rest being 3 to 6 times as expensive is huge. If I powered my whole home from batteries charged on grid at my cheapest TOU rate I could lower my bill by...

I think my lack of knowledge on installation is what has me focused on this. I just want to someday be able to take any inverter and batteries to another house and "leave no trace" with the current panel essentially. There's no intention of having this be portable. You aint lying. I guess I...
