I built and hand soldered my own panels 30 years ago, using cells I got from Ebay. As I recall there were over 75 solder points in each panel I made. The system worked great for years until water incursion rotted the cells. I am a retired aircraft mechanic and went to college for electrical technology. I have a roof solar 20 panel array installed by a company. Last year in the spring of 2022 I built my own field array of 20 panels. I used tube steel and metal poles into the ground. I selected the Sunnyboy so that I would not need panel conditioners like my roof uses. This saved me money. Later in the year I built a smaller 9 panel array. I only got 6 panels installed, as I gave a few panels to my brother who needed them.

I plan to add 12 more panels to the system.
