I'm trying to understand the different Sol-Ark 15k settings, which I find extremely confusing... I have no loads upstream of the Sol-Ark, i.e., everything is connected to its load output. I believe this makes "limit-to-home" and "limit-to-load" identical, but I'm not sure. (I do have the CTs...
"Sell" is not required to discharge the batteries. That is handled by (section 3.3 TOU) "Energy Priority: 1. Solar PV Power | 2. Batteries (down to programmed discharge V or %) | 3. Grid Power | 4. Generator", i.e. it will use battery power before grid power (until batteries reach the Batt%...
The problem with what you're suggesting is that when "TOU charge" is checked then the "batt %" field refers to what level the batteries should be charged to whereas with "TOU charge" it refers to the what level the batteries may be discharged in order not to consume grid power. So I would...
> Uncheck Grid Sell
>Uncheck Limit to Home
>Uncheck Limit to Load
This combination cannot be set.
I did calibrate the CT and it's reporting the right value (checked via modbus registers).
I now seems to be working mostly OK with limited-to-load and grid-sell both checked. It has not sold...
Thanks for all the suggestions! In the following scenario, what's the best thing to do:
- it's 8:45pm, i.e., shortly before the peak rate period ends
- the battery has 1kWh left that could be exported
Is it best to export that for a $0.58 ($0.62-NBC) credit or is it best to use that kWh to...
You are effectively connecting the Sol-Ark's grid input/output with its load output? Do you see the issues as well if you disconnect your load panel F from the 175A sub-panel?
Thanks for the confirmations regarding the PV-off switch... I sent the installer a question. Inspection hasn't happened yet...
As far as I can tell, one can argue that turning the Sol-Ark off (power off button on the side) cuts power to the CCA and that shuts panels down, except that there's a...
> If PV exceeds load and battery charging, the only place for it to go is to the Grid (sell to grid). It will not limit PV production when on-grid
That's not what I observe. It simply limits the amount of power produced by PV. I have limited-to-home checked, if I uncheck it it will sell excess...
Thanks, I know that by checking "limit-to-xxx" I can get it to practically zero out the grid. But once I have the interconnect agreement I will want it to sell excess solar to the grid. But then I won't want it to also sell 500W of battery to the grid. That's the crux here.
> On your Sol-Ark screen hit the gear on the top right, "Li Batt Info" then check out the Charge Current limit. That field is set by the BMS (or in this case the Lynk II on behalf of the battery array) and (for the most part) the Sol-Ark just follows the BMS direction. I'm going to guess that...
This morning the grid went out and once the batteries ran down power went out to the house. Except, the Sol-Ark was supposed to turn on the generator but it didn't!
I'm trying to understand why (and will have to run some tests once things are back to more normal). Something that caught my eye...
Thanks for the comments. Air temperature at noon today was below 70F, prob a bit more on the roof (the panels do have 3"-4" below them). The panels must have been hotter given that they're black. I guess I was expecting too much?
If I mist some water on the back side of the panel, would that...
Cool stuff! I don't have a Daly BMS but enjoy this type of project. I guess the biggest question is whether you can implement meaningful features that the factory software doesn't support. I haven't looked at the SH367309: does it allow you to get any info about individual cells? If so, you...
I'm in California and expect to get PTO under NEM 2 soon (I'll celebrate it when I see it...). I have solar and battery, the TOU rates in the summer are $0.62 4-9pm, and $0.24 9-4pm. On an annual basis I expect to be buying a modest amount of energy, i.e., I don't expect a production surplus. Is...
I've been troubleshooting an issue with my Sol-Ark & Discover batteries, which is that I couldn't get the Sol-Ark to charge the batteries from grid at full current (275A).
Goal: ensure batteries are charged 100% just before the peak rate period starts at 4pm (California)
In the summer this...
I have 32 new 400W Qcell panels on the roof, all with Tigo optimizers, going into 3 MPPT inputs on a Sol-Ark 15k. One string of 11 panels faces SE (12 degree roof) and the rest are in 2 strings facing SW, this is in southern California @2000ft altitude. I also have 20kWh of battery attached.
So...
> I don’t think you should use limited to home mode. That requires getting he CT’s to work properly.
My CTs are working properly as you can see from my last post. I have not observed any difference between limited-to-home vs. limited-to-load, as one might expect. The manual is not 100% clear on...
> Post a pic of your Grid Parm / Limiter screen, and Time of Use/ Setup Screen.
This is what I had this afternoon with grid sell enabled. At that point the Sol-Ark was selling both solar and battery power to the grid:
I then noticed that I can check both "limited-to-load" and "grid...
Tigo is treating everything as proprietary and refuse to provide any info. See https://support.tigoenergy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16299740684179-Utilizzo-protocollo-Modbus and https://support.tigoenergy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/4414123527443-TAP-communication-protocol

I have a 10 year old Generac 16kW genset. For L.P. the specs say:
25% load: 1.2 gal/hr
50% load: 1.6 gal/hr
75% load: 2.1 gal/hr
100% load: 2.4 gal/hr
I've read that idle is almost the same as 25% load. 25% load is 4kW, that's perhaps 3x our "house idle" load. So yes, charging batteries at 50%+...
I see, you're saying that I should check "charge" in all the TOU periods but keep "grid charge" unchecked?
So I currently have TOU "charge" checked for the 3rd TOU period which goes from 2:30pm to 4pm with a 75% SoC set. This causes the battery to be charged up to 75% from the grid before the...
I'm a little puzzled about the rapid shutdown... I have a 15k with Tigo CCA, in California. Everything is mounted outside the house, so the SA is readily available. Questions:
- what does the "PV disconnect switch" on the left side of the Sol-Ark actually do? Just disconnect the PV input power...
