What are your goals with solar, both quantitative and qualitative?
What do you feel you need to power using solar, and what do you want to power?
What were you doing for electricity before your attempt at solar power?
Why is a solar plan a “bust” at this point?
I’m not a native Vermonter but I was here for Hurricane Irene in 2011, which is what this week’s storm is being compared to.
The state government and residents learned a lot from Irene. I live in a rural area so most of us are self-sufficient enough and have had years to prepare for Mother...
Spare fuses and a spare multimeter at the minimum. Spare parts and wiring based on one’s ability to repair and troubleshoot.
Maybe a spool of wire, some connectors, and a crimper as well.
This is great food for thought.
I’d chop off the old connectors and wire it up with MC4 hardware. If not trash the entire system.
That controller looks tiny, like 10A. Not sure what you’re trying to achieve.
Exactly two points that have come to mind lately.
I retired fairly recently from federal law enforcement. A role I had at one time was critical infrastructure threat analysis. When I drive down some remote roads near me, I see solar arrays sometimes as close as about 20 feet from the shoulder...
I like the concept.

Where will wiring run safely without being exposed to excessive moisture or pinch points at the frame/hinges?
While I did follow the request as soon as I noticed it, I’d also like to echo a recent post somewhere here that mentioned donations.
I may be a newly-registered member, but I’ve been reading here for months and have learned more here about end-user solar than anywhere else. It’s certainly...
I echo the original poster’s sentiments.
In fact this is my first post as I decided to join only recently after reading on here for months.
And the joy of it all is that I still have months of reading to go!
There is no finer resource online for comprehensive end-user solar info, I really...
