Background
I built my system for emergency portable power for my condo in Cocoa, FL for power after a hurricane. Hurricane related power outages at my location occur every 4 to 6 years on average and typically last 3 to 5 days. As an amateur radio operator that is active in ECOM (Emergency Communications) that drove my choice of components based on EMI/RFI certification.

Actually its two PV systems. One 1200W 24VDC system for 110VAC loads on the 3000W inverter and one 400W 12VDC for amatuer radio gear. I do have a couple extra throw away Renogy PWM charge controllers for backup.

What drove me to solar is the fact that it is illegal to operate a generator at a condo or apartment building due to safety carbon monoxide safety concerns. Otherwise I would have a 2kW portable gas generator in spite of a love for solar. A generator would be easier and cheaper.
