A relay might work, but I would likely need a/c mains power to keep that relay powered. I updated the other thread, one of the 24kbtu units will not cool with solar except under the dehumidify/dry setting. I do not recommend buying until these problems are sorted out.

My understanding from Mr. M1 was that you needed wifi and an active internet connection for that feature to work. There is no WAN available at this location.

So the bottom line is this is not an off-grid capable heatpump/airconditioner. It needs alternating current to do. Which means that you/we/me are only saving the inversion loss by being batteryless. i.e. buying an a/c only heat pump that is most efficient and running from your main solar array...

I would say neither start up without a/c. They do try, but timeout before stable sun is available. If I could set them to only look for sun at 10am or later daily, and shut down at 5pm, that would likely work really well.
