    Eclipse 2024

Spectacular here in Ohio. The difference between 97% and 100% is about the same as the difference between 0-97% IMO, like 2 different events. In 2017 we were camping in southern IL and I think half the residents of Chicago were on I-57 afterwards. Fortunately we weren't!

    Adding second EG4 LL

Hmmm, I would have to think about whether a root canal or fiddle with that would be less painful. Probably the root canal. I'll have to look into getting a cable, contrary to what the video says they do not come with a USB cable from SS. The more I think about it, the least painful move...

    Adding second EG4 LL

I did neither. Is there any way to tell they are or are not communicating? How do you tell what firmware it has?

    Adding second EG4 LL

Apparently they are talking and getting along with each other, SOC, loads, and charging current stay pretty close. I set the dip switch on the newer battery as 1 and something higher on the older battery. Using whatever firmware they came with.

    Victron MPPT

I got one that NAZ solar said was brand new. Had to reset the code. Apparently they mess with random units at the factory since they (Victron) say it may need reset.

    Adding second EG4 LL

I guess I will see how it works out and if the 2 batteries will stay more or less evenly charged once it's all hooked up. New battery won't be along until Monday and I won't be down to the cabin until later in the week. I'm also wondering since there is no "system" connection in mine, does...

    Adding second EG4 LL

    Older battery is August.

    Adding second EG4 LL

I currently have a single EG4-LLv2 battery on my system and am about to add a new EG4-LL-s. 1) When I add the second battery, should they be at the same SOC roughly? 2) I am not currently using any communications to the Victron MPPT or the Morningstar inverter. If I just connect the 2...

Total Noob wants to run a mini fridge

My 2 cents. I was running a 10 yr old mini fridge in our cabin last summer off an ecoflow river 2 and it used a lot of power, 8-900wh daily. Once we got a more permanent system up, we bought a basic 18 cu ft top freezer fridge from the big box store. It barely uses more electricity than that...

48v to 12 v buck converter to run 12 v inverter to reduce high standby power consumption of all-in-one

https://www.solar-electric.com/morningstar-suresine-150-hw-inverter.html Uses 2.6W with the AC output on.

Can you trust the low temp cutoff in EG4 LL?

Looking like it will be in the 20's for highs for a week or 2 down there. My solution is we'll be staying home. :) Battery will be fine just sitting there off. I do have the battery sense, but still don't have the permanent array finished. Winter can have it's way for a while, spring is coming!

Can you trust the low temp cutoff in EG4 LL?

OK, I think I get it. Seems odd that they wouldn't engineer that cutoff at 32. While re-reading the manual I again noticed that EG4 suggests storing the battery at 100%. (Seems like many people suggest 40-60%.) Since this will sit idle with zero load a lot, would it be better to leave the...

Can you trust the low temp cutoff in EG4 LL?

Just read the marketing on it and sounds like the ticket. Thanks!

Can you trust the low temp cutoff in EG4 LL?

Didn't see 48v options, but I like your thinking.

Can you trust the low temp cutoff in EG4 LL?

TY. As best I could gather from the Victron manual I need some other gadget accessory to make that work. I may just do that anyway.
