Yeh that's the same inverter you have there, interesting. Mine is from Voltacon, a UK company. Not sure what you mean here. The batteries have 225Ah capacity. The battery manual says max. discharge limited by battery fuse and cable. The fuses are 100A, but it would never reach that. Tipically...

So I put the batteries on a float charge at 28.8V for 48hrs. Compared to the previous test, where it took 65 mins to go from 100% to 42% charge (23.5V), this time it took 78mins, on roughly the same load. That's a 20% improvement. Sadly that's still only around 10% of it's capacity.

Excellent, thank you. I will try this then. I can not set the length of absorption in my inverter, what I can do is lower the charging current to extend it I guess. It will automatically switch to float when charged which normally happens within an hour considering how little charge it can...

So I let it run on around 1000W load on the batteries until it went back to grid at 23V, let them sit for a couple of hours disconnected and took the measurements. 6.37, 6.34, 6.34, 6.35 V. I guess that concludes that it's not a single cell/battery failure? I read that it's possible to do...

So what does 6xI10 max charging current mean in terms of Amps here?
  • Post in thread: AGM batteries dead in 2.5yrs?

Yes, these are my first batteries on the solar but it seems I'll be better off replacing them with lithium batteries. The only thing is, my inverter has no lithium battery charging option (it has 'AGM', 'Flooded', and 'Pylon') so that'll need replacing as well I guess. But yeah 2 years I've had...

Yes, correct, there is 'USER' and I thought that was for custom settings for any of the given battery types. It's a Conversol 3G-3024-B Inverter/charger, so not sure it can be used with Lithium batteries...

I have seen inconsistent information regarding how effective desulfator chargers are on AGM batteries. The cheaper ones however all seem to start at 12V for larger capacity batteries (>=225Ah) The only charger I've found so far that has a repair function at 6V is the NOCO Genius PRO25 or PRO50...

I have 4 pcs of Hoppecke (sun power VR M solar.bloc) 6V 229Ah AGM batteries -total of 5496Wh capacity-, connected in series to a 24V off-grid charger/inverter with AGM battery charging capability. Max charging current is set to 60A, float charging voltage is 27V. The inverter is also connected...

if you mean the current after fully charged, on float, inverter says 4A - not sure it's accurate though. Update: since upping the float voltage to 28.8V it's been 5-7A. That's a good idea. The max amount of equalization time the inverter allows is 190mins anyway, so no other option.

Hey, Thanks for your message. You're right. So I had another go while making sure it was bulk charging. I actually set the bulk charge voltage to the max as per the batteries manual to 2.4V/cell so 28.8V for the 4 batteries. I also reduced the max. charging current from 60 to 40A. After 5...

Thanks for everyone's response. The 23V back to grid voltage is set by the inverter for this battery type. This is pretty much in line with the battery manufacturer's recommendation for deep discharge protection with is 1.90V/c at I>=4xI10, so if I interpret this right (correct me if not!)...
