This is driving me nutty! I need two DC power ends that I can plug into my fans in my chicken coop. I don't want to cut the end off the plug, because I may use the fan portable at times. I found the screw on type, but they only handle 16-26 gauge wire. The fans run 1.25 amps and one will be 18 ft from the fuse block, so I will be using 14 gauge wire and the other fan is 35 feet from the fuse block, so I will be using 10 gauge wire. I can't find DC ends that will work with that gauge wire. How do I do this?

TIA!

Just use 16 gauge and then splice to your 10 or 14 after that. Resistance is proportional to the distance of the wire, so a short section of 16 gauge will not significantly affect your circuit.

Thank you! Would I use a junction box and wire nuts to put the wires together like an AC connection?

For this kind of stuff I just use insulated butt splices and then sometimes shrink wrap over those to make it neat. I'm also always out of the yellow ones for small wires so I just use my blue ones and crimp it hard enough that they bite.

I don't like that it basically strains the butt splices to pull on, but I don't think it's really hazardous either with the power coming out of one of these adapters.

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it.
