mis wire 6000 xp

If you hooked up you solar wire incorrectly, pos/neg, into one of the mppt controllers on the 6000 xp...would it hurt it or just not work or just notify you...?

Switch them back to the correct polarity and let us know

One of the Midnite guys explained on this forum something about how all regular buck charge controllers (PV to 48v or less) have inherent reverse polarity protection, something about the way the FETs work just naturally locks up against reverse polarity.

I don't know if the same concept applies to high frequency AIO's though.

The 6000XP does have reverse polarity protection on the MPPT. This should help prevent damage to occur to the MPPT if wired incorrectly.
