I have access to 24 Shuco mpe180 ms 05 panels for free. They are used, about 15 years old. I have always wanted to put solar on my house, but it didn't fit the budget. I am trying to work out if these are usable, safe, and worth the effort and cost of a new inverter.
Several of them have cracks, and I am wondering if they are a safety issue, or will cause problems with performance. as seen here:
Is there a way I can test the integrity of each panel?
I know they are expected to degrade over time, is there a good way to check the actual output of each panel so I can size an inverter to the system I actually have?
I had the impression that there were features/technological compatibility issues between different inverters and panels, but in my digging around all I've really found is information on how to size an inverter to the output of the panels. Are there any other compatibility concerns I should take into account when selecting an inverter for these?
Thanks in advance!
