Hello !

I am building small electric motors ( layouts) using only the power of the solar panels ( no battery involved in this projects ) . I am looking forward to improve them for future applications ( non - comercial ) like : ventilation, mechanichal inverter DC to AC, etc. Any sugestions for improvments ?

1. Reed switch solar motor

More specfic : a pulsed motor
- magnets are disposed on the rotor N-N-N -

This is a circuit which stores energy from solar cells in a capacitor and releases it in pulses to run the engine.

The capacitor alows the motor tot run in cloudy days.

About the pulsed motors :

A pulsed motor uses short pulses of current to drive the motor, making it spin. The part of the motor that spins is called the rotor. Acting as a flywheel, and has multiple permanent magnets. These magnets are usually extremely strong (neodymium magnets) and can be arranged in a variety of different configurations. The stator is the stationary part of the motor that surrounds the rotor. It holds one or more electrical coils. They are positioned so that the magnets line up with the coils/coil, during part of the rotation. The coils are energized when they are exactly lined up with the permanent magnets in the rotor. When electrical coils are energized with a short pulse of current, they produce a repulsive force. When magnet gets close to the reed switch, the two contacts inside the glass tube get magnetized and touch each other.

Future possible applicatons : ventilation

2. An electric motor based on a neodymium sphere

This solar motor is powered with only 67 milliwatts, an experimental electric motor, using a single mini solar panel from an office calculator. A driving system consisting of a single coil from an old transformer with thin wire and a permanent magnet with two poles ( N and S) .

Vimun mini solar panel - 29.44mm×11.6mm×1.1mm, 4 cells
rotor : neodymium magnet sphere
stator : coil iron less, thin copper wire
Available input power : 1.25 V X 0.0536 ma h DC
electronics : from a typical solar dancing " hula girl " toy

Future possible applications : mechanical inverter, adding a second coil near the spnning magnet - obtaining AC power

If you have ideas for improvments, I am looking forward to hear it.

Thx.

Using the same mini solar panel ( from project 2. VIMUN 3012-2A from an office calculator ) I managed to build a mini AC generator

here are the results :

2 coils iron less , vimun solar panel, led, electronic circuit (from a flip - flap solar toy)

Here are 3 of my solar projects on a table, all using solar energy :

1. in the left "corner" :) - an AC generator (based on a magnet movement between two coils )
2. a low consumption electric motor built from a fidget spinner (reeddswitch electric motor)
3. a low consumption electric motor built with a neodymium magnet ( based on a spinning neodymium sphere)

Solar motor running in ambient light from a domestic bulb E 27 led 10 W - room surface 13 sq m

solar panel - electronics from a flip flap solar toy - coil iron less - neo sphere

I managed to add a small flywhell on the base project, here is the result :

I can see the sun on the sky , so it is time for a new DIY electric motor :)

Here it is :

components:

1. 13 mm neo sphere
2. 2 × ball inflate needle
3. coil with thin wire and many turns
4. 2 x propeller from a fan Dc 5 v
5. electronic- from a flip flap solar toy
6. solar panel

Well done! I like the creativity!
I also had ideas to drive brushless motors from solar directly for a while, and now I come accross this, very nice. I guess I should start building stuff too.

Thx ! I observed that the electronic of a rotating solar stand is more efficient for those type of solar motors -
rotating solar stand

1. Solar motor using flip flap solar toy electronic :

2. Solar motor using rotating solar stand electronic

3. Simple solar motors

Another model of a "mini electric motor " - a spinning magnetic sphere

13 mm neodymium sphere
electronic - flip flap solar toy
solar panel
coil without core

:)

Nice, although I fail to understand how the last one works :)
So you're alternating one coil (without core) and it results in the magnet spinning horizontally not vertically?
the sphere is divided in half with north/south right?

Thx Swing !

We have the solar panel as a source power connected to the flip flap solar toy electronic connected with a coil iron less ( without core ).

All the details regarding how the electronics of the solar toy is function you can find here : https://ez.analog.com/adieducation/...logs/posts/solar-powered-motion-toy-tear-down

The sphere has only two magnetic poles N and S as you said , divided in half

Adding a sphere on top of the coil (using a surface to eliminate friction as much as possible ) the sphere will start spinning.
