First, why is a sheet metal box with some bus bars and breakers so dam expensive? Second, are they even worth it if there's a cheaper, safe way that can pass inspection if needed? If I recollect correctly there's a user here that didn't use the PDP and passed inspection. I plan on starting with one inverter and charge controller and expanding to two each. It appears the pdp has typical AC breakers for the AC input and output..but it also has a 250A DC breaker that's panel mounted as it has pins. Are there any good DC breaks that compare to it that are DIN mounted? I was hoping to find a AC/DC DIN panel and breakers just as good as the ones in the PDP and not the cheap Chinese ones. Is there something to this panel other than a easier install that I'm missing? Perhaps the fact it's UL listed? A grand for a metal box with breakers seems a little much.
