I don't think the feds are going to be able to pay their bills this cycle. In the past, it's always been limited to low level political banter back and forth.. This time seems different.

Seems to me the democrats want to spend too much money and the republicans are going to intentionally create a default in order to gain political ammunition.

The dems need to stop spending our tax payer dollars like a teenage girl with daddy's credit card.. and the republicans need to stop using these types of issues as bargaining or blackmail opportunities.

Maybe a default, and the catastrophic consequences that follow, would be good for this country? 1) Is there hope that the average American voter will smarten up and kick out the same old career politicians? 2) Or would these same dumbass people just keep voting for the same people over and over while blaming the other side for the problems?

Yes. Look at Feinstein. Look at McConnell. Look at Manchin. Look at Gym Jordan.

The fact any of these people are still in power is a testament to the tribalism rampant in our politics turned sports teams. Ra Ra Ra

That clock should be displayed in every government building.. And in congress, it should be displayed in front of the house and senate on a 15 foot screen.

It should also be displayed in the President's office, and be REQUIRED to be displayed behind every presidential speech in full view of the cameras.

That would just make the uptick go faster, especially due to the govt paying for it ?

Yup, maybe.. but imagine how fast our debt would fall when these jerkoffs realize the public can actually SEE them spending their money...

Ya well it is not so funny when you accept the fact that the government is NOT the one's paying for it. It is WE THE PEOPLE!

Completely agree. What I was implying is anything government contract costs a hell of a lot more than the private sector.

In order to get a balanced budget, you would have to reduced spending, increase revenue, or a combination of the two.

At a glance, Biden's budget increase seems to be less than inflation so a reduction in in spending in real terms.

Maybe it is not enough of a reduction, or maybe you guys need to increase revenue (tax)

That is not always true, for example; single payer health care costs a lot less per person and has better outcomes in general.
There are some things that should not have a profit motive attached. Idiots will call it socialism. Smart people will acknowledge that we all do better when we all do better.

Things that shouldn't have profit motives:

Health care.
Education.
Prison systems.
Roads.

I'm not saying that doctors, teachers, jail workers, construction workers shouldn't be paid. Just there is no humane reason to hold the general population that can't afford a lot of these things hostage, to raise CEO's bonuses and shareholders profits. Who here likes a toll road?

Looks like there might be a deal.. and nobody got what they wanted. Seems like both sides compromised their positions and demands to get the deal done.

How much would be saved by making Healthcare non-profit and what would the downside be?

I’ve posted this before on another thread. This guy claims a gun is being held to his head over lowering med cost at Pfizer. They just made billions of tax payer dollars from EUA covid vaccines. They can’t be sued over it for any adverse damages. Was a gun held to their head in those arrangements.? The words came from his mouth. They are a private stock owned company not govt. So all he has to do is say “no sale.“ No agreements. How is a gun being held to his head over other med pricing. So much drama. So greedy.

You make it sound as if Republicans are equally responsible for the problem just for making political fodder out of the issue when it arises.
Obviously if Democrats werent throwing money around like a drunken sailor the issue wouldnt exist.
Bidens policies have been insane. And that crazy pierre mop top saying Biden is running again to finish the job of cutting inflation for American families.
While federal covid money got the ball rolling, the biggest influence on inflation was Biden implementing his war on fossil fuels policies his first week in office. Everything depends on energy. And everything else he does is spend spend spend.
Its unbelievable that Biden wouldnt budge and McCarthy caved. Of course he couldnt take it to default but cmon now .

We could always print more money and devalue present money even more. Make a stick of chewing gum cost $1 million dollars with inflation. Hahaha Oh well ….. I just keep waiting for the democrats to tell everyone that doesn’t know…. ‘’Welcome to the New Global - World Order Comrades.“ We won and you lost.
Communist were bold.
Former Soviet Leader made this bragging statement. Russians are known for the long game. After all we sided with communist in WW2

In what messed up version of reality are you getting your information from? Go look at any debt chart organized by president... And see that 50.7% by Obama in his first term? That was Obama cleaning up the housing collapse left behind by Bush..

Seriously, what messed up website do you read for that screwed up information? PropagandaSuckersRUS dot com?

Clintons debt performance was due to all the capital gains and dividends taxes paid by corporations that he facilitated shuttering their factories and moving production to China.
And the "housing collapse by Bush" was caused by Clinton policies, not by Bush

Where do I get my data... Umm its a place Democrats dont go to called REALITY. Screenshot_20230614_122855_Chrome.jpg
Look at this chart. Gas prices stable through 2020... Until Joe "war on fossil fuels' Biden gets elected. November 2020 begins a rise, then really takes a jump the week the asshole takes office... And the rise just continued.
No, Biden didnt cause inflation. Maybe it was cornpop.

.... and by the Republican congress who passed the "contract with America." Clinton could have vetoed that, but would have paid a price for it.
Congress is where money is appropriated .... Presidents can influence that, but not control it except by veto.

Clinton also had several chances to take out Bin Laden and didn't have the guts to do it ..... That mistake has cost us money ever since.

Most of the time a republican president is having to rebuild defense after being decimated the previous administration.

Note that in 1992 everything you bought said "us patent x, xxx, xxx" on it somewhere.
By 2000 everything said made in china. Patents evaporated.
Chinagate. Clintons legacy.
