Help required - too many amps coming from solar panels

Also, you should check the max pv array Watts for your SSC, i think it will handle 550w max, can you provide the specs of your SSC?

Help required - too many amps coming from solar panels

I have a 12V system with 2 12V solar panel in series, they produce up to 40V, PV array voltage should not match the battery voltage but the SSC Voltage range.

Help required - too many amps coming from solar panels

I see no problems with the SCC. 1) 31V is normal for a 24V watts solar panel, it does not mean that the batteries will charge to that voltage, it is just the voltage of the PV array. 2) Do you have a 40A breaker from solar panels to the 40A SSC? You should use a 50A breaker instead, also some...

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

I have a voltage regulator and the "normal" light on it seems to be blinking when i have the inverter on power saving mode with very low load (2 routers), that could be dangerous for the appliances

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

No, if you switch the inverter off it will remain off until you switch it on. You can use the power saving mode for that, to keep the inverter off until it detects loads, but i tried it and it wont get on if the load is low so it is useless for my needs. I just turn it off manually when i need to.

Solar Panel for 48V (Will 59.6V work?)

You need to check your SSC specifications for the voltage ranges, post the victron specs here

    Solar panel question...

I can't see the max voltage of the renogy SCC, it just says max voltage = 25V but im not sure which voltage is that on solar panels to compare, i think you could get 2 of these panels then connect in parallel to avoid exceeding the max voltage, but let some1 more experienced to answer.

Simple All-in-One system with MPP Solar 812LV-MS

I tried it, was a little tricky to get it to work, had to connect the cable multiple times. Im not using it right now because im missing a long cable, but ill get one soon to monitor the unit with my pc.

ANT BMS. Final answer? Yes, final answer.

You need one 8s bms for every 24v battery, if you want to get more capacity just get 8 more cells and another 8s bms to build another battery, then connect both in parallel.

    Solar panel question...

In short therms its the same, but usually the 200w panels has pretty similar voltages compared to 100w panels, and you can add more watts with panels in series without exceeding the the voltage ranges of the SCC. Also, you have to consider what is the minimum voltage range of your SCC to work...

    System Requirements

The mpp solar 1kva 12v is a inverter/charge controller, it is 500w max pv array, you could install 4 panels 2S2P, and get 2 100ah batteries and you are done.

Max pv array is 500w for the charge controller, im planning to get two more 100w solar panels to get 4S for 400w, but im not sure if is safe, these are the limits on voltages for this unit:

Will My New System Work? You Tell Me!

    1) a 24V battery is made from 8 cells in series, you need one 24V 8s 100A for it, if you have multiple 24V batteries to connect them in parallel i think you will need one bms for each one, im not 100% sure though. 2) This is answered on this thread.

Problems with default AGM settings (Low Voltage Cutoff)

There are 3 settings for this: 1) Max charging current: 2) Max utility charging: 3) Charge source priority: this is set to utility first, and it wont charge the battery with both utlity and solar, just one at time. How should i set this? It was set to 40A max total and 20A max utility...

Will My New System Work? You Tell Me!

Hi @Nova22 for bms check this page these are the ones they recommend, the one you listed come with very thin cables wich is not recommended, i suggest you to go for the ones they recommend as bms seems to fail a lot if they are bad quality. Also, i wish to know if low temp cut off is mandatory...

Hi @Affordable Solarguy i will buy a breaker for solar panels to controller, i just dont know which is the corrrect one, it is pretty confusing, they come in diferent amps and volts, this controller is 40A, Do you know which braker should i buy for it?. Also, i killed the AGM, 100% DOD ftl, it...

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

You could let the inverter on all the time depending on your battery bank

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

The switch on the unit is to turn on/off the inverter, not the unit itself. After you turn the inverter off, the lcd display will turn itself off in a short time if the solar charger is not being used (no sun). The lcd will turn on automatically when there is sun to charge your battery. Thats...

Problems with default AGM settings (Low Voltage Cutoff)

Ok, i changed the bulk charging voltage to 14.5V, float to 13.6V and cutoff to 12.0V, i think the inverter will use the 12.0V as a base and will calc the to a lower voltage depending on inverter load, based on the inverter manual here:

Thx for your reply @kernel Unfortunately i dont have the tools to do these tests, ill attach the spec sheet to see if you can help mw with the settings, i dont know which settings should i have based on the specs.

Is anyone using the MPP Solar 12V LV PIP and not getting full charging.

This is normal: if you check your screen display when the battery is about to full charge, it will go to max bulk charge voltage very fast (should be like 14.1-14.5V depending on unit settings), then it will drop to float charge voltage which is usually 13.5V, it is normal that the screen will...

MPP all in one solar inverter

It depends on your needs, how many whats will you be using out of it, they usually recommend the 3Kva unit that is 24V and you need to make sure that the unit says 220-240Vac

Is anyone using the MPP Solar 12V LV PIP and not getting full charging.

I had the same doubt, this unit comes with Solar Power Balance and you cannot disable it, this is setting 31 on other larger MPP solar units. You can read what Solar Power balance means on the manual, but in short terms, the solar panels will give you only the Watts you need to keep the...

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

Hello @jaffadog, turning the inverter off won't turn the charge controller off, I did turn off the inverter couple days ago because the battery was to low, it was at the very morning without sun, and it started charging the batteries as soon as the sun cames out even that the inverter switch was...

Problems with default AGM settings (Low Voltage Cutoff)

Recently I was experiencing issues with a 4 months old AGM battery, I've been using the default AGM Battery Type settings for my MPP solar 12v system and after 4 months it only activated the cut off voltage one time, after that the battery seems to be discharging way faster and the low voltage...

    PIP mpp 812LV-MS

VOC is open circuit voltage, the unit has a 102V max, I don't know if it's safe to get 88V, that is near the max 102V, but I see that other users in this forum are using 4 100w panels in series for this unit with no problem.
