Anyone else with a recent EG4 48v Lifepower4 battery purchase getting a "Charging MOS fault alarm" that can't be reset?

same on my 2 batteries, first time i'm charging them. got them in february, so they sat for 2 months but still reported 2/4 LEDs SOC. i dont have time to pull the batteries from the rack right now. is the inspection needed? what would cause a false alarm?

SRNE HYP series vs. EG4 3000EHV (HF series)

No I was wrong, you have it correct. For some reason I did not think the end of the chainlooped back.

SRNE HYP series vs. EG4 3000EHV (HF series)

    1. I havent powered iton yet, but I would email them. They will want to help you so you buy more. I will be in the same boat when I buy 2 more, I will email them also. 2. I have to check the manual but I dont think our units need the loopback parallel cable. That might be an issue...I would...

SRNE HYP series vs. EG4 3000EHV (HF series)

I ordered 18 of the NE solar 370w panels, en route. The first array of (6) is going on our box trailer....potentially this weekend. The remaning 12 panels are going on a 20ft container, before april. Those will also be arrays of (6) panels, each with another inverter. I realize all 12 can go...

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

Thanks for the followup. At least if you add solar (or maybe you did) it will be easy to move those 80% of loads over to the inverter sub panel.

trailer array - PV wiring to structure

i was focusing on things with a built in spring loaded covers, but I suppose a screw on cap is sufficient, using a receptacle where I provide the enclosure. there's tons of things on Digikey also for that route. thanks

trailer array - PV wiring to structure

What are thoughts on using receptacles typically used for AC? It's only me that will have access, both receptacles will be atleast 6ft from ground level, and this is temporary as exterior wall will be destroyed in 2 years. No risk of anyone else down the road getting confused. The selection...

trailer array - PV wiring to structure

That is a great connector to keep in my parts list, thank you. For this I am looking for something 3 conductor (in a cable) and outdoor. This seems too exposed for outdoor. What I am finding is intended for AC and is not calling out any ratings for DC that I can see.

trailer array - PV wiring to structure

I am considering utilizing the roof of our box trailer to mount 6 panels, 370w each all in series. considering the inverter and batteries will NOT be in the trailer, wiring from the trailer would be the PV direct to the structure roughly 210 vdc 11amps. I don't love the idea of...

SRNE HYP series vs. EG4 3000EHV (HF series)

@42OhmsPA how are you connecting your SRNE and batteries to comms? i was thinking solar assistant on RPI. i am VERY familiar with USB-rs232 converters and RS485-usb converters, but it appears there are several ways to do this and even 2 different busses on the RJ45 battery ports.

SRNE HYP series vs. EG4 3000EHV (HF series)

GRID sub panel is now live, inverter AC input connected, inverter AC output connected to BAT sub panel. I also had to take care of some other things in that utility area before moving the EG4 battery rack into place, but it's ready for the welding cable to connect the rack. I'll have the...

20 ft Shipping Container Solar Array Mount

for a second my math was terrible and I thought they were 500 watt panels. what panels are those? are they bifacial talesuns? your container is white, so i am wondering if there is a bifacial play possible,

20 ft Shipping Container Solar Array Mount

I am also seeing $3200 delivered in NH/MA/RI myself. I wish I could fit a 40ft, the extra $1000 for the 40 would pay for itself. I am looking at $1/watt for the panels and the 20ft container, so it pains me to think I could do 60cents/watt for the 40ft.

20 ft Shipping Container Solar Array Mount

the paveed area facing south is roughly 37ft wide and 28ft deep. I am giving up a parking spot for the container, yes with the sides facing east/west. if we could obtain 2x 20ft containers at a good price I would be tempted to connect them with a 10ft span and triple the array, and park a car...

20 ft Shipping Container Solar Array Mount

Can we talk prices of used 20ft containers? I'm having trouble finding them less than $3000 used for WWT. I was really hoping to get one under or near 2k. I am playing with some 20ft container ideas after walking away from a ballasted pergola path on another thread. I know output would...

It wasn't advertized when he asked, I had it in a quote from them. They have since advertized free shipping on the site.

    3 Phase in US

this should have been obvious to me, i am powering on inverter 1 for the first time tomorrow and would have been surprised. now i have 12 more hours to let that sink in, thank you. so you are already doing it, with some minor issues. thanks for sharing.

    3 Phase in US

I am not talking about a specific brand, I am talking about hypothetical firmware update to off the shelf single phase inverters, where 3 of them are working as a group to produce 3 phase, 2 in pass through, also rectifying thier inputs to provide the 3rd inverter DC to generate the 3rd phase...

    3 Phase in US

I realize this thread is old. In theory, why (aside from firmware and possible PCB limitations) could 3 inverters working as a 3-phase team with a battery bank not function as a common solution to convert 2-leg grid into a 3-phase output as long as pass-through was disabled? let me get...

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

my line of thinking was if there is existing unused wires, his home may be older only have 100 amp breakers from the street but that's not even a fair assumption without knowing the size of the home. me incorrectly referring to tandem 100amp breakers from the street as "200 amp service" doesn't...

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

@webbbn were you referring to 2 separate 50amp 240 circuits, which would have been (4) 50amp breakers? if so, what were these 2 circuits originally installed for?
  22. CableGuy

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

200 amp service is 100 amps on each leg. i doubt he has 200 amp breakers from the street. 6 months is nothing on a forum people will read for years. i still highly doubt he was referring to (4) 50amp breakers and you can't be sure of it either.

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

There's no harm in confirrming that's what the OP is really working with, or mentioning he could be mistaken. 200 amp service is 100 amps on each leg. He says he has (2) 50 amp 240 circuits is (4) 50amp breakers run to the other side of the house. So the unused circuit is rated to max out...
  24. CableGuy

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

on a separate note, if he did have (2) true 50 amp 240 circuits, what would prevent him from parallel the inverters by not simply not paralleling the input circuits, just connect each inverter to 1 of the existing 50amp circuits on the other side of the basement, just as you would if they were 6...

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

there was some discussion of paralleling existing unused wires in a home to double current capacity, in reference to what the OP is "a pair of existing 50A 240V lines that run to the exact spot". I think it would be rare to have two 50amp 240 circuits run to the same place, and it's more likely...
  26. CableGuy

    Parallel Inverter Load Balancing

Aside from code, the OP's existing 240 circuit likely has a shared neutral, if any at all. If they were to parallel the 2 hot conductors on the same phase, the current on the neutral conductor would be way too much. Citing code alone is not enough to stop everyone so it's worth mentioning if...

    parallel inverters

Someone must have simulated this. I said fail, but I am more asking what happens if I were to power off 2 of 3 inverters if the grid was down to save power. If the master (configured as 3 phase normally) would function standalone as 120v if the other 2 were simply taken offline, that would be...

    parallel inverters

I guess this applies to inverter failure also. Does a 3-phase setup with 3 inverter tripple the probablity of a single point of failure and actually undermine the idea of have 3 of these for redundancy? Or imagine 3 units parrellel on a single phase. I would expect if 1 died, the other 2 in...

    parallel inverters

I have 1 but will have 3 of the new srne hyp 5000w series. I have 3 phase power, going to put one on each leg. I am trying to decide if I should parallel 2 of them to get 240v or parrallel 3 of the to make 3 phase. My question is what happens when 1 inverter fails or is shut down? I was...

solar pergola on pavement, only weighted down

Update: it was in fact too good to be true. They had 800 panels needing repair and are almost done replacing connectors and recertifying them so installers gaurantee their work.

solar pergola on pavement, only weighted down

yea the more i though about it, unless they were submerged there's no way they are compromised beyond the connector. we are over 5 miles from salt air too. i sent up the flying camera machine. 50 pallets must have been the buy, they probably got a container. There is about 5 pallets in what...

Yea, sorry I'm all over the place with the ideas. used shipping container(s) is still primary path. i am getting my inverter/batteries setup this weekend (this project was battery backup solution before solar) and then will pull the trigger on container 1 shortly after. I already sourced a...

the trailer is an option, but the roof isn't designed to support weight. roof is 7x14 i might be able to bracket from the edges but a used shipping container is my new path.
