Just to clarify - I added another 100 watt solar panel recently and moved the array into full all day sun because it previously only charged at about 1 amp for 2 hours a day... So the SCC (MPPT) shows 30+ volts (2 panels in series) coming in and charge at 5.9 amps max. out to the battery pack...

Strange then that there has been no oxidisation on the other 27 similar batteries on similar set up (same SCC but running at 24 volts and up to 20 amps) in our main nearby cabin, which has been running solar for 3 years now...

Always use charge controllers. Been in this business for 20 years, before they (DIY) used SCCs !

There is a solar controller. Used in a previous set up and reliable enough I think.

All rather flimsy plastic at the moment - lid and box. Seems to have blown out (upwards), through the blue cover and also through the transparent thin plastic just above that. Little specks of blue on the nearby terminal, looking like typical aluminium corrosion. I have replaced that one cell...

Noted your helpful comments! Crimping still not mastered I'm afraid... You mean the terminals supplied with the cells are all aluminium these days ? I always try to use copper lugs, but will have to rethink that one ...

One of my newish 90 A/HR LIPO4 has blown the pressure release and is indicating 0.57 volts only... Completely scrap ? And never happened to me before, so I have little idea why (apart from faulty cell presumably). Anyone suggest causes ?

It is just a 2P4S battery bank of (cheap) 100A cells from AliExpress, with a 20 amp BMS.

I have a 12 volt 200 amp/hr LIPO battery bank (DIY) which I use for emergency back up in the house (lights, fan and TV only) when the grid goes off... - can I use it for emergency starting my car ? Would the 20 amp wires be enough ?

Out of date videos are often misleading, especially on YouTube. I always look at the date before viewing. Responsible authors would take them down if they later prove to be misleading or inaccurate.

It seems to be when the SCC changes from Bulk to Absorbtion mode (and back again). Because of the single cells (7 & 8) always reaching 3.65 volts way before any others, this happens a lot. I agree they are very "cheap & nasty" SCCs (PowMr. !) but there must be some solution ??

No, I understand that's not a good idea. I already had it on the charger at 3.2 volts and around half an amp, but the charger gave up as described above. So now i think i shall give up on this one cell... Everyday now there seem to be new revelations about these batteries and even conflicting...

Maybe I should put it back in a "pack" and hope its fellow cells help it to recover?

Very interesting ... Seems the cell is shorting out and refusing to take a charge. Charger (e-bike type) is set for 3.2v, but just flashes red instead of steady red. Voltage .1 or 0.
