That's exactly what I was thinking. A dc-dc charger direct from the lithium batteries. Think of the lead-acid as a way to boost current short term without screwing up your expensive LFP batteries or roasting the BMS. I have no need for such a setup (purposefully no inverter).

Don't rush into it. Plan your system, and buy once, cry once. Don't get too obsessed with how many amps are coming from/to where - all that really matters is how much is flowing into/out of the battery and SOC. You'll figure the rest out.

I think the battleborn is a good choice. Not sure on price, but ReLion are decent US built batteries and can be run in series for 24v if desired. I have 2 x 50Ah ReLion RB50 in parallel and am pretty happy with them.
