FYI, I just got approval from my utility to turn on my permission to operate in the app and Charge On Solar immediately started working.

problem setting up Tesla "charge on solar"

I'm attempting to use the "charge on solar" feature in the Tesla app to charge my car. I'm able to pair my phone to the Powerwall 3 but don't see the "charge on solar" option on the car side of the app. If I sign out of the app then log back in I see a quick flash of a setup screen then it...

Charging my EV without draining battery

The video that 2TrevorJ provided a link to appears to be a big part of my solution. However, I can pair my app to the Powerwall but the "Charge on solar" option never appears in my app. The only reason I can think of because I don't yet have PTO from the utility. Could this be the reason?

Charging my EV without draining battery

Just had the following installed at my house: (20) REC 410s Powerwall 3 Tesla backup gateway Tesla Wall Connector Not sure if it matters but I'm on SCE NEM 3.0 TOU Prime. I'm trying to figure out how to configure my Tesla Model S and the solar system (guessing it has to be done at the car end)...

SCE - over or under 10KW interconnection agreement?

Is there any downside to an over 10kW agreement? If not, I'll just let the installer deal with the error message. It just seemed odd to me that it was over 10kW when my panels could only produce 8.2kW but there's clearly a lot more to the equation.

SCE - over or under 10KW interconnection agreement?

Yes, I have (20) REC panels at 410 watts each for a total of 8.2kW and a Powerwall 3 that has a built in inverter, and a Tesla backup gateway.

SCE - over or under 10KW interconnection agreement?

I'm having an 8.2kW system with a Tesla Powerwall installed. The company doing the installation submitted an over 10kW Interconnection request to SCE. When I asked why over 10kW when the panels are only 8.2 they replied that it's because I also have a battery. Today I received an email from SCE...

Put EV charger on backup gateway?

    Great explanation. Thanks!

Put EV charger on backup gateway?

So if I have the charger on the backup circuit it will be drawing through the battery even during non outage times, correct? If so, that seems like a lot of battery cycling. Not sure what the benefit would be to have it on the backup circuit if I was going to tell the car to stop charging...

Put EV charger on backup gateway?

I'm in the process of installing (20) REC panels, Tesla Powerwall 3, and Tesla backup gateway. Because the Powerwall 3 has much better throughput than the Powerwall 2 I was planning on leaving all of my circuits, including my EV charger, on the backup gateway so I could still charge my car...
