    Weird Battery Charging Question

I want to preface this by saying I’m not doing this, but the idea has popped in my mind. For example if I have a 48v battery bank, but decided to charge it with (4) 12v or (2) 24v chargers. Has anyone else thought about this or maybe even tried it? Obviously you would have to be careful of your...

Large DIY Battery Bank for a House

40Kwh is an average. My peak was 70kwh. I’m in South Carolina in a brand new house. My house is on 75 in the summer with all of the fans going. If I go any warmer the Mrs. will have a fit. With being in SC solar is better than average so that’s a plus. The house is really well insulated. I was...

Large DIY Battery Bank for a House

Thank you all for responding to my post, but I haven’t received replies to my original question. If you were asked to design an 100KwH battery bank using LiFePO4 cells, which size cells would you use? 100ah seems to be the most readily available, but I have also seen plenty of higher ah rated cells.

Large DIY Battery Bank for a House

I would agree that I would need to do a full charge/discharge cycle for maintenance purposes. I have seen the 85% to 15% level to increase longevity, also saw the difference in between that and 75% to 25% being better when I calculated cost vs. returned longevity. I’m not worried about space so...

    Charging your LIFEPO4 Battery Bank

Thank you for your reply. How will I be able to keep the charger offline until I actually want to charge the batteries? This will not be a solar system. I will be utilizing hydro power that is very constant in power production throughout the day and year. I guess I will be using the batteries...

    Charging your LIFEPO4 Battery Bank

From all of my research on the LIFEPO4 batteries it is recommended to have a charge/discharge cycle that starts at 75%-80% SOC and go to 25%-20% SOC if you want the longest lifespan for your batteries. My question is how do I keep from prematurely charging or over discharging my batteries?
