In your diagram and in other references B- goes to the terminal of the first negative battery, along with the output cable. V- also goes there. You can crimp both into the same connector for the battery terminal.

Yes I would guess that the pack wasn't fully charged. If it starts to balance out over time, that is likely why it took on more initially. There could also be something wrong with your settings, shunt, etc also. You should verify everything is set right also.

Nice. I uses a momentary button with a seperate switch to precharge using an NTC thermistor and a power diode to prevent backwards power from the inverrter. A resistor would have worked just as well. with the disconnect off.

I would recommend charging the 8S packs to 3.5v or even 3.6v for yhe top off just to make sure all the cells are at or just past the flat part of the curve. I did the same thing and used 3.45 and still had to individually charge the cells with anywhere from 1.5 AH to 60 AH.
