Parallel connection of two BMS for one battery.

So I've used this setup for almost two years? Give or take a bit... No issues with the BMS or cells going out of balance. They split the workload evenly, both charging and discharging.... No issues at all! I thought I'd separate the BMS for two packs, but never got more cells thanks to a...

    JBD/Xiaoxiang BMS Apps List

THANK YOU!!!! I had a freak out moment when my Xiaoxiang app would not allow me to check and adjust parameters! I downloaded your recommendation and it worked. Thank you!

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Nice! I've had parallel BMS running for months now in my first build and have done it a couple times more since then, WITHOUT issue. Running only one pack, it's a nice backup safety. A couple folks think I'm nuts, evidently, but to be honest... Whatev! Guess I'm just not "clinically...

Review of Capacity and Terminal Temperature - cells from Shenzhen Luyuan (Amy Wan)

Very well written overview and testing! Thank you... I have 32 of these cells coming- someday... Lol. Been two months already. Thankfully, not in a rush at all.

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

I thought about doing that too @HRTKD, but in reality, they are both trying to achieve the same balance goal and they only balance at the top of charging voltage, from my understanding. I'd like to test it more, but honestly, I can't think of a way to manage a test like that.... lol! I have a...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Thanks for calling out my video! Much appreciated.... just don't get sea sick watching it! Lol.... I have more cells coming in any day, so I plan a redo of this setup with single and parallel BMS again aaannd using a gimbal this time! Will was my inspiration for using dual BMS as he did it...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Hey Tim, Are you going to leave the MDF there for the cells to be compressed inside the Plano case? If so, I don't think they'll fit. I used the same Plano pack for my builds and thee is JUST enough room for the cells and BMS. I didn't internally fuse the cells, but I do like your idea!

    Shenzen Basen Cells arrived

Great read and write up! Thanks @smoothJoey for the help.... @Loadtoad... will you share more info on the HP charger? Some pics, and parts? I'm on the edge of ordering a second inverter/charger to top balance with higher amps and also have the inverter to bench test batteries. Thanks!

DGJBD Bluetooth BMS - a short review

Excellent advice, thank you. Thanks for the critique on the video and the soldering info too. You can't get better without out someone pointing out mistakes, faults and ways to improve. It's appreciated! I added this warning to the details of the video! Haha... "Edit & Update: Caution...

DGJBD Bluetooth BMS - a short review

I've got a video and pictures of the BMS from Overkill opened up. Here is a picture for now, but I have a video that may help more. It's uploading to Youtube now, so Processing on their end and all... It'll be ready late morning. I'll announce it at www.facebook.com/familyDIY.net Youtube...

Debugging new LFP battery checklist (sticky?)

I agree, but probably manufacturer specific... Anything under 12 volts and most rv's and inverters go bonkers...

Debugging new LFP battery checklist (sticky?)

Based on what I've done, it sounds well thought out to me. May I ask what went wrong in your first build, your "gaps" and consequences?

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Yes, Correct! Each module has its own Bluetooth. Only needed to keep tabs. And, it's only $8. Sorry for the delay, I didn't get a notification! Lol... I really taxed it yesterday, testing and playing. I don't have an edited video, but raw one... Ran the single battery and dual BMS up to...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Correct! Using it camping right now. The largest draw I've had is about 150 amps for a short term. Most is slow 15-20 all night. Charging I've gone up to 130 amps for a short bit. Too high, but I wanted to try it out. That was with the solar charge controller and the 80 amp inverter/charger.

    Overkill Bms low temp bypass

Didn't get any notifications.... Sorry. I don't know what the issue was! Lol... I ended up bypassing the temp probe by raising the temp displayed. It fixed the issue, (kinda)... I don't trust the low temp cutoff for the bms now, even though there is a separate temp sensor on the board. I live...

BMS recommendation for 4S 280ah battery

Sorry, just saw this. I didn't get a notification... So far, it's running great. The two overkill BMS are working perfect together. A week of camping and no issues at all. Only thing I'd recommend is NOT using the bolts included with the cells. I used 20 mm stainless set screws with nylock...

DGJBD Bluetooth BMS - a short review

EXACTLY! I'd been through every setting and menu conceivable... But didn't actually click the temperature read g on the dashboard. When one said - 30, I realized that changing it to a positive number was mentioned in the Overkill instructions. Did it and it worked! YAY... Thanks. Loving this forum!

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

OK, solved. The exterior temp sensor is faulty. Not only broken, but when hard wired and soldered to the board it still does not read out correct. I was able to override it in a way I hadn't discovered. Temp sensor 1 was reading - 30 and number two was accurate. Obviously one sensor is on the...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

@DerpsyDoodler Ok...i figured why not... I'm not great, but not terrible either. Seeing the contact points, I soldered the temp sensor wired direct to the board... Put it back together and.... Nothing. Still won't discharge. Still getting that Discharge Low message. What gives. Steve at...

DGJBD Bluetooth BMS - a short review

Hey all, wondering if anyone has gotten the "Protection" message of "Discharge low" with this bms? Back story is the unit I Received from Overkill, using the 120 amp BMS, had the temp sensor lead damaged. It would not discharge. I soldered the wire back together and it worked fine. Then the...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Well... Let me tell you.... Nah, I got nothing.... I think it is inherently fragile. But, mine came slightly damaged and not working. Steve at Overkill is quick to resolve, but backordered. Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Lol... The pins fir the plug actually broke off.... They are like microscopic, lol... Big downside to that BMS. Everything else is solid, but that plug in that is on the board is susceptible to breaking off. Mine actually came partially breaking off.... Just wondering if I can bypass it. I...

    Overkill Bms low temp bypass

Is there a way to bypass the temp sensor on the Overkill bms? The temp sensor plug broke off the board and it won't allow discharge. No freezing Temps where I am and a replacement is ordered.... For a short term fix, how can I force it to allow discharge? I've tried: Changing the low temp...

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

Hey all, do you know of a way to bypass the under temp cutoff? One of my two BMS was wonky and I finally figured out why. The temp sensor lead broke off the board.... With this broken, the BMS will not discharge. I have a replacement coming, but we leave in a week for a trip... Ideas?

    Parallel Overkill BMS Success

@Steve_S, @DerpsyDoodler , and @Dzl As to the reasoning, it was not specified... He just said not recommended. I posted here about it as there seemed to be no information about doing this, besides the one video from Will P. about the two Dalys in parallel. Everything I'm seeing in bench...

BMS recommendation for 4S 280ah battery

@smoothJoey The two BMS match right on... This is the meter I have, but I am going to exchange it for the AC/DC clamp model... I thought this one had DC, but realized it did not... I really have found the clamp part nice. I bought it in trouble shooting an Air Conditioner- furnace problems in...
