    DALY Smart BMS question

I put the shunt between my battery and the BMS to account for the BMS consumption. If you're using screens etc the consumption becomes more than insignificant, and I want all usage accounted for.

Can a Battery pack listed as a UPS battery be used as a solar battery ????

They use 12v lead acids and an inverter charger system. 220/230/240v In and Out. Cells like those CALB ones are often used in server UPS systems.

Just received notification that my 32 cells have been shipped from Shenzhen Basen. I dealt with Alex Chen, expect them to take about a month as they are coming overland by train.

    Barley Paper

Yeah I would do the same but I have 32 cells, 4p8s configuration. I piece would cover 5 cells on one side so that would be 2 pieces. I have ordered some for my pack, will see how it goes.

    Barley Paper

Anyone using Barley paper to insulate between EVE/Lishen cells? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33009251344.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.56994c4d0Xqrag Seems pretty good, self adhesive, 175mm wide x1m so you can get 5 cells out of each strip (17.5x20cm), wont impact compression, wont require...

    Fuse or circuit breaker?

Well at least we both agree that the battery should have something close up and I shall use my fuse just in case. Can't go wrong with a victron mega fuse and with the amount of Fuses on my Coach, carrying a few more spares won't matter :D

    Fuse or circuit breaker?

there is a 250amp main fuse on the battery supply and a 50amp breaker on the battery charging circuit. although both lead to the battery they are for different things, there is no doubling up, they are one and the same in the diagram and photo.

    Fuse or circuit breaker?

No I am not in the US, we have the pole fuse in our homes as the supplier ensures the supply to the house is safe, not just to the pole. (we actually don't have poles anyway, we have a main feed underground from the transformer. We run 240v not 110v as well. A fuse is always safer than a breaker...

    8s LiFePO4 charging with ISDT Q8 Max

I will have a Daly Smart BMS (24v 500A) set to max at 3.6 and min 2.65, I want to try and keep the cells well within a safe range. Trickle charge doesn't mean I will leave it on, it means low amperage as opposed to fast charge at 1c. Will be using an equal length silicon sheath tinned copper...

    8s LiFePO4 charging with ISDT Q8 Max

I have been considering what charging system I want to use to charge my 8s LiFePO4 cells when on the move in my Coach, and most of what I have seen doesn't either protect the battery well enough or doesn't provide enough Amps for a large install (Victron Orion).... I have an ISDT Q8 Max (1000w)...

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

For me personally, I would put the fuse as close to the battery as possible, I have seen some people bolt a megafuse direct to the main positive and then wire the main feed from the other end of the fuse. This would protect against any type of short other than one in the bank itself. You can...

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

Your main feed should always have a fuse before the breaker box, in my home it is 240v 100amp. This is on the unmetered side of your mains connection. Breakers can get abused by getting continually reset and then they eventually weld closed and go bang. The main fuse is between the feed into the...

If you are trying to wire the CAN Bus into the CCGX then I believe you don't need the Box, just the cable from the BMS to the Box and then wire it according to the VE-Bus adaptor https://www.victronenergy.com/live/battery_compatibility:can-bus_bms-cable I have not done this, so proceed with care.

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

There really isn't any issue getting parts in Croatia other than from Amazon.... So if he has a short and that cheap 200A breaker fails, or the short is closer to the battery..... A breaker is NOT a replacement for a mechanical Fuse, continually resetting a breaker can result in a breaker...

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

No I was only discussing freely roaming. 1. A breaker is not a replacement for a Fuse, a breaker can fail, especially those cheap Chinese ones, his breaker is installed outside the pack which leaves a huge amount of "earth cable" that could short and cause a serious problem. 2. He is in...

Well obviously the sag on the DC section as that is the where the current is going through the BMS and changing to keep up with the constant watts on the inverter. ;) Here is the video so you can see what happened!

    Is Daly still for sale?

I have the Daly Smart BMS and have 2 of those Alternatives as backup if the Daly Fails. At 200A they didn't quite have enough capacity for my 24v system and although I am unlikely to be above 200A often, I figured if the Daly fails I will split the pack into 2 packs and use the 2 QUCC BMS packs...

    Over Sizing a BMS

By Voltage drop I mean load voltage sag from the 4kw inverter he was using to power 2 heat guns in his capacity test. The BMS cooling fan kicked on a few times, but wasn't on permanently. It handled it like a champ but I would be concerned about long term effects.

    Over Sizing a BMS

I am going to be using a 500amp 24volt BMS on my system but the max draw should only be 5kw, 209amps or thereabouts. Having seen Will use a 250amp BMS and pulling 290amps as the voltage dropped I figured headroom wouldn't be a bad idea and would leave room for expansion. Although the maximum amp...

New Daly "Smart" BMS w/ Communication. (80-250A)

Just received my 24v 500A Smart BMS. I only really needed around 220A but I figured headroom would be safer and I can charged at 250A as well. I ordered all the connectors but missed the LCD and Battery LCD. I may order a small BMS and a bulk order of those items as it would seem there is a...
