    Undersized MPPT?

So I have a bunch of take out solar panels, I was planning to use 2 on my boat in series, 245w solarworld monos, I ordered a 100/50 Victron MPPT controller for my 12v Lifepo4 bank 272ah bank. I technically have room for one extra panel but it is more under my radar arch so will have shading, not...

Switching my house bank to Lifepo4 & Adding Inverter with Generator.

We never need both plugs since really only need for both is if using both A/C systems, to be honest we hardly ever use A/C BUT since it is reverse cycle, it does get used for heat on occasion in the fall. But yeah like you said it is pretty complex but works well so be a pita to do anything...

Switching my house bank to Lifepo4 & Adding Inverter with Generator.

2 shore power connections on the boat, twin 30 amp plugs. Left side is shore power plug 1, right is plug 2, if using only 1 30amp plug then you run Shore 1 normal and flip the second switch on shore power 2 to parallel. If running both 30 amp plugs, put them both on shore power. If running...

Switching my house bank to Lifepo4 & Adding Inverter with Generator.

Yes to Orion TR Smart, Everything Bluetooth if possible. Yes the top one, this will allow me to use most of my existing wiring/switches without any issue. Ideally I would go with a Quattro unit but they are almost double the price. To do the middle option you suggested would require adding...

Switching my house bank to Lifepo4 & Adding Inverter with Generator.

So I am still buying the parts for this, I have an older boat, 1997 Mainship 34 Motor Yacht. It currently had a Kohler 6500 Watt Genny and Twin 454 EFI engines. This year we will be keeping it on my mooring and will only see dock side on certain trips. Generally when I go somewhere we will be on...

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

My only experience with mixing cells is lead-acid and has proven to not be a smart/cost effective way to do things. So since I am doing a 4S 12V setup using Lishen 272AH cells, if one goes it more then likely they will go in the trash or sold online and replacing the pack. That being said my...

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

Good to know if a cell fails a few years down the road the others could be saved. I didn't think just top balancing would correct for this, figured to many minor changes over time. Good to know.

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

Good to know, as stated in first post, very new to this. No issues mixing/matching cells down the road?

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

How often does a single cell need to be swapped out where you do not replace all 4?

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

I said fill it 90% of the way or so, leave the terminals exposed. PVA release argent, If the cells do not deform, in theory you could pull them out after it cures.

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

As I said, you could use a PVA. But on smaller setups such as a 4S, Balancing and such you would have to use Flexible cables but it is such a short distance anyway. How often does a single cell need to be swapped out where you do not replace all 4?

Another Cell Compression Thread, this time about foam

http://www.totalboat.com/product/totalboat-flotation-foam/ How about encapsulate the cells in a battery box at a low SOC with 6lb stuff.

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

<--- Very, very new to this. Since it seems like most of the issues are the cells expanding after/during charging, how about putting the cells in the smallest battery box they will fit in and filling the box 90% of the way up the cells with an epoxy such as west systems 105. You could leave a...
