    My build so far

How have you guys liked the combination of the EG4 equipment and the BlueSun solar panels so far? I am looking at using them for my own home solar project, as well. I had a solar installer here tell me that this stuff is mostly junk, but I don't believe it.

Feedback regarding Docan Power plastic box for DIY LiFePO4 battery builds

By the way, I would likely use them to make 12v batteries using EVE 304AH LiFePO4 cells or similar.

Feedback regarding Docan Power plastic box for DIY LiFePO4 battery builds

Has anyone used one of these plastic boxes from Docan Power in a battery build? I am curious to see photos of how things were arranged on the inside. Also, will the battery cells with laser welded terminal studs fit inside them without issue or modification needed? Docan Power Plastic Box

    Thoughts on BMS selection

I have built two 12v LiFePO4 batteries using the Overkill 120A BMS devices and some 280AH EVE cells. They work great. Now, I am in the process of building two 24v batteries from 304AH cells purchased from Docan Power. I see that Docan sells a couple of JBD BMS devices - one 12v and one 24v...

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

After many months, I finally unboxed my 16 cells to check them. I have been very busy and have not had a chance to look at them until now. I am very pleased to report that the cells appear to be in perfect condition. All of the voltages across all of the cells are within .001 of each other...

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

I finally received the 16 battery cells yesterday which I ordered on Jan 7, 2022. I have not had a chance to open the boxes and inspect them yet, but except for one minor tear in the corner of one of the boxes, they seem to be in very good shape from the outside. I am looking forward to...

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

Thank you for the responses. I understand it can be slow, but it is hard to understand nobody knowing where the items are, and 16 days after being told they should be at the port, there is still no update. How come there isn't better information about where the products are in this day and...

BATTERY SELLERS - THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY -- or Jenny (DOCAN) so far so good ...

I ordered 16 EVE 304AH battery cells from Docan Technology on 1/7/2022, and they still have not arrived. Has anyone had any issues with not receiving battery cells they have paid for? Sandy Zou is the contact, and she has responded to all of my messages. Our last round of messages stated that...

Blueprints for backup battery power at home

I have been thinking this too! Thank you. I started off on this journey several years ago when I bought two 6v deep cycle lead acid batteries. They gave me the ability to have many hours of light and to charge devices or use my PC or other devices, if needed. However, the lead acid...

Blueprints for backup battery power at home

Sorry, I didn't realize there had been any responses yet. I am interested in what would be better for my situation - 12v vs 24v vs 48v. I am seeing that there are not as many options for 24v equipment as there are for 12v and 48v equipment, it seems. One of my requirements is going to be...

Heltec 4S 5S 6S 5A Active Balancer Fried - Is there any issue with my connections?

Well, I got curious today and examined the Heltec device and the cabling. I saw no visible damage to the Heltec and the cabling seemed fine so I thought I would do a test while I am waiting for the replacement to arrive. I put a ring terminal on the wire coming off of pin 5 and connected it to...

Okay. I will change the wiring before trying the replacement when it arrives.

Heltec 4S 5S 6S 5A Active Balancer Fried - Is there any issue with my connections?

The reason I used Pin 7 was because all of the diagram examples I saw in the manual and other places seemed to have the first pin wire connected to the main battery negative and the last pin wire connected to the main battery positive. A 6S battery would have all wires connected because it...

Heltec 4S 5S 6S 5A Active Balancer Fried - Is there any issue with my connections?

I should have one wire connected to the negative terminal where the BMS main negative cable connects and one wire connected to the main positive cable outbound from the battery just like the BMS wires along with the intermediate cell wires, correct? No, that will be interesting to try. The BMS...

Heltec 4S 5S 6S 5A Active Balancer Fried - Is there any issue with my connections?

I have one LiFePO4 battery which has one cell that hits the max charge sooner than the other 3. I never did top balance the cells due to time. I am not terribly concerned about it as I am getting plenty of capacity for my needs from the two 12v LiFePO4 batteries, which I built. Also, I just...

I don't know if I will be able to pull the trigger on something like that yet. I was shooting for much lower in cost.

16 new EVE 304AH cells from Docan Would two 24v batteries in parallel as I was thinking be better than 48v with four 12v batteries in series? How does JBD compare to the Overkill Solar BMS devices? I have been happy overall with the 12v BMSs I currently have.

Thanks for sharing! I guess I could configure my cells into a 48v bank of four 12v batteries. Have you actually used that PowMr device yet to get a feel for how durable and well it works?

Blueprints for backup battery power at home

Now that I have decided to pull the trigger on the new 16 cells, I am seeing less options for 24v inverters. I want to be able to use 4,000 to 5,000 watts from my battery bank. It will be capable of up to 4,800 watts of output, at least. What do you all recommend for 24v? I want good...

Blueprints for backup battery power at home

Well, after testing with my current 8 cells purchased from Aliexpress and having good results so far (except for a GFCI issue with my Renogy 3000 watt inverter), I have decided to expand. I am now in the process of purchasing 16 new EVE 304AH cells from Docan and will put together a 24v system...

Questions about using Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter

Also, does anyone know why my microwaves rated as 1200-watt models are pulling 17 amps? One is rated at 12.4 amps, and the other is rated at 12.3 amps. However, when tested with my Klein clamp meter, I am seeing them consuming ~17 amps. I don't understand how the specs can show them rated at...

Questions about using Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter

There are 30-amp to 15-amp adapters for RVs. I have a couple of these from an RV and travel trailer we used to have. I will check into what may be the least expensive solution to power these kitchen appliances from the inverter while maintaining safety. I am aware of what gauges of wiring...

Questions about using Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter

At present, this is not permanent power. This is also a backup battery solution that would be used when grid power is unavailable. I have read that it is not advised to put refrigerators and microwaves on GFCI circuits due to the kinds of issues I am running into when testing with the...

Questions about using Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter

No, all of my cables carrying the loads from the batteries to the inverter are properly rated. My BMSs are 120-amp models from Overkill Solar. There are three 8 AWG cables hydraulically crimped together by Overkill Solar connecting the BMSs to the 300-amp bus bars on the negative side. There...

Questions about using Renogy 3000 Watt Inverter

I am attaching a photo of the back of the inverter showing where the ground is to be connected. It is just a screw post with some nuts. It doesn't seem like it was designed to carry much current. Do I just attach a ring terminal in between the nuts and call it good? Renogy specifies a 10 AWG...
