    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Everyone "else" here has been awesome & helpful. Don't know why YOU ask if I'm a troll...smdh! Simply, I watched Will's video on the LV6548s (wherein he said these worked within the US out of the box...unlike the Growatts), did some checking here (I haven't posted since joining a year ago...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Thanks Will! Can you share what the latest firmware revision is? Just now ordering 2 LV6548s an will have to check firmware first thing.

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Thanks for posting this! Apologies for starting a new thread about something already under discussion. I did search the forum for before posting, but missed this thread.

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

This is the reply I received from Watts247. The link he provided is about the Growatt issue on YouTube, but says the LV6548's bonding screw is in same position to those in the 8018max. Like Growatt, the MPPs are NOT UL/US Compatible out of the box.

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

LOL...it's all good! Just had a quick look at the video again. He's using a mechanical disconnect on his incoming ac, with common ground carried to his inverters and loads panel. Because he's using the grid to power his inverters, he must do this, as he doesn't constitute a separately derived...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Got ya. I call the subpanel, that which feeds 240 into the inverters and a critical loads panel the load distribution panel being supplied by the inverters. Don't know if that's correct residential terminology...lol. I've seen numerous posts wherein DIYers don't use separate sub/load panels...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Lost me. The AC being supplied to the inverters comes from the subpanel breakers (L1& 2) and ties from the subpanel's N & G terminals (ONLY bonded at the Service Utility point of entry at the Mains Panel. So, any point from inside those conductor terminations inside the subpanel to/from the...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Lt, Dan, If your 6548s are bypassing the Utility, and your measurements are between the subpanel and the inverters....that's perfect! I'm extremely limited with "residential" electric (BY CHOICE). I spent 25 years working internationally on offshore Oil Platforms and Vessels before retiring.

Thanks for testing, truly appreciate your time!

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

The author of the youtube issue metered NO N/G bond with the LV6548s drawing on batteries, with 0.2A on Ground Conductor. In Utility bypass, he metered a short between N/G at the inverters and 5+ A on the ground conductor. Victron inverters do this also, if one forgets to program their onboard...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

The he/he said honestly sux! Hoping that a forum member that actually has an LV6548 split phase system installed will switch to utility bypass, place a clamp meter on their ground conductor, and advise of the findings (assuming the N & G are only bonded in their Mains panel at service termination).

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

I just got off the phone with Watts247. The tech there said there IS a bonding screw within the LV6548s that needs to be removed for US split-phase 240 operations, when using grid bypass....same as Growatts, so not truly US or UL out of the box. Seems that removing the bonding screw within the...

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

Thanks for the reply! Seems the author of the youtube link I shared has the exact opposite situation. Is placing a neutral jumper conductor between the inverter's AC in/out N terminals is not a solution then, as was repeatedly recommended for the LV5048?

    MPP LV6548 Ground/Neutral Safety?

I understood that the MPP LV6548s were manufactured for compatibility with the US 240Vac Split Phase standards, until I found this post on youtube: This homeowner DIYer only has Neutral bonded at his Mains panel, but metering ground loop voltage/current when the LV6548s are in Utility Mode...
