Crosspost: RV Travel Trailer System - LiFePO4, solar, B2B, safety and fuse check please

Good catch, I missed that. Voltage drop for pure copper is 0.37 volts in my application. Pure aluminum is 0.59 volts. CCA is somewhere in between, (literature seems to vary on where exactly). Seems close enough for me, I think, although it is a bit more than I was hoping for. I'm only...

LiFePO4 RV Battery - Use Renogy Dual Input DC-DC charger instead of upgrading Converter?

Nope. It wouldn't have hurt anything, but the WFCO charge profile is meant for flooded lead acid, and will only get the lithium to 75-80% charge.

LiFePO4 RV Battery - Use Renogy Dual Input DC-DC charger instead of upgrading Converter?

Update, installed the battery and DMT1250 in my trailer last night. DMT1250 takes the output of the WFCO8955 (FLA only) on the alternator port. Even though the WFCO8955 is rated at 55 amps, seems I was only getting around 45 amps out of it, but good enough for me (~5ft of 4 gauge wire between...

Crosspost: RV Travel Trailer System - LiFePO4, solar, B2B, safety and fuse check please

The 1 gauge wire is for the 25-30 foot run from the tow vehicle to the DC-DC charger. Max amps 50 Max voltage drop according to a calculator online is 0.37 volts, or 2.55%, based on 14.6V in and 50 amps flowing. Is that not enough? For the inverter, 2000 watts out at 87% is 165 amps in. At...

Crosspost: RV Travel Trailer System - LiFePO4, solar, B2B, safety and fuse check please

I'm using an overkill solar (rebadged xiaoxiang) BMS, 120A limit. The batteries can do 200 amps, but I wanted to use the overkill BMS. I could do 24V, or parallel 12V with parallel BMSs, but this is what I've got right now. I've already purchased most/all of the hardware here, so that's the...

Crosspost: RV Travel Trailer System - LiFePO4, solar, B2B, safety and fuse check please

Hopefully I'm not breaking rules - I had this in the Safety Check forum but now realize that since I'm looking for a general review, that might be the wrong forum. After 8 days with no comments there, I'm asking here. 202 Ah LiFePO4 4s battery: 1C discharge rating Using DMT1250 DC-DC to modify...

Wiring check (enough fuses?) for Travel Trailer RV

202 Ah LiFePO4 4s battery: 1C discharge rating Using DMT1250 DC-DC to modify converter voltage to lithium voltages (converter is FLA only) Running 1 gauge to front of travel trailer with anderson connector. Will have Anderson connector direct to alternator in tow vehicle. Provides 50A charging...

LiFePO4 RV Battery - Use Renogy Dual Input DC-DC charger instead of upgrading Converter?

I've got a test setup with a 200AH LiFePO4 battery ready to test with my WFCO on my next trip (this coming weekend). This was me checking out the Kisae DMT1250 doing a 50 amp charge from the alternator, (tow vehicle alternator stayed cool....good news there).

    Good info, thanks!

    Rate my battery?

Well just closing the loop. In spite of a goofy capacity test setup, they delivered advertised capacity. Had to use a 12V ~180W heated build plate from an old 3D printer to run the test. Not bad for $380 shipped, and the laser welded studs made things easy.

    Rate my battery?

Oh they are secure. No movement of copper if I pull or bend em. I didn’t realize you could/should do multiple sides with the hammer though, I can definitely do that.

    Rate my battery?

Yeah weird. And I can’t figure out how to edit the post. Oh well, the only one showing something new is the one showing my compression testing setup. Nine rods was because all thread is cheap, and I was going for uniformity. Yeah, I’m not thrilled. They are hammer crimped, and hammer crimped...

    Rate my battery?

Well hopefully it’s all good. Putting some amps to it now.

    Rate my battery?

I'm brand new to this and learning as I go. Got in 4x 202AH cells from BLMPOW on aliexpress, working on charging them up. Cells, by the way, look great, come with m6 posts that look welded on. Was top balancing from scratch, thinking "5 amp rate, 202 ah, max time will be 20 hrs....", while...

    Non-bms charging lifepo4 200ah 8s

That's not how a BMS works. The batteries are in series, the BMS can't just turn a cell "off" as that would mean the remaining pack voltage would be lower. When any given cell hits max volts, the BMS shuts the whole damn battery down. When any given cell hits minimum volts, the BMS shuts...

Did I just got scammed by a forum member??

This is some serious character assassination for a matter of $50. Posting full name, address, and phone number is rather extreme. The dude said he's going through troubles and will get to your stuff as soon as he can. Now sure, maybe he's dragging his feet, but he is doing you a favor, not...

LiFePO4 RV Battery - Use Renogy Dual Input DC-DC charger instead of upgrading Converter?

For what it’s worth, the WFCO 8955 I have says in the manual that it doesn’t need a battery to run. In fact, it recommends disconnecting the battery as a troubleshooting method. Supposedly, it should push in boost at 14.6V without a battery connected, (but it also will drop to 13.6 or something...

LiFePO4 RV Battery - Use Renogy Dual Input DC-DC charger instead of upgrading Converter?

I’m bumping this because I have the same question, (also bumped a different thread in a different group with a similar subject, forgive me regulars!). Did you try this wlemst88?

    Unconventional DC-DC Charger Use

Hey Orion, did you ever do this? I’m thinking of an identical use case to you with one extra of getting a dual use charger (MPPT solar + B2B dc-dc charging). I figure I run my WFCO 8955 into the dc-dc charger to condition power for lithium charging, have the ability to use my tow vehicle as a...
