Yeah, I've been talking to them, and they're wanting me to go to some vendors. I really want to avoid having to disassemble these myself, there are chemicals in there that are likely toxic, and the burnt wire bundles are likely to cause additional shorts as I work on them.

They’re unfortunately damaged and no longer workable safely. Chemicals oozed out of some of the cells and burnt/melted balance wires.

That's a good idea, also, I have 1-ton ratchet straps that could use for this, just need a ramp of sorts.

Oh the tripod is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that design. Could build one from 3 sticks of lumber.

Just following up here - after much iteration and deliberation, I found a decent solution for this. I grabbed a chain hoist ($50), sling ($13) ( and D-rings ($6/ea) from Harbor Freight and engineered an eye-bolt I can put enough weight on (using a 4x4 and threaded 1/2" rod). Had to crawl around...

Nice, yeah, that's a good solution (Andy of Off-Grid-Garage Australia does that, as well, to maneuver batteries). I don't have a jack nor do I know anybody nearby to borrow one (and I don't want to have to find space to store one if I buy one). That would definitely be a nice solution, though...

I have 3 10 kWh batteries that failed catastrophically and need to be disposed. They’re mounted on a wall and weigh 220lbs/ea. I manually wrangled the first one off the wall and dragged it along my garage floor, but it left a streak of liquid. I cleaned it up with gloves but am now worried about...

So the claim made was that these settings can be overridden by the Flexnet. These settings were done according to manufacturer recommendations for these batteries.

I can’t say I’ve personally confirmed this bad behavior or even believe that the Flexnet does this, but I didn’t really lose any functionality I cared about by ditching it.

I wonder if their design improves this. They sent e this photo (which looks more like a rendering than an actual product).

According to their CEO, the new batteries are completely redesigned (and they look different on the website, as well). So fingers crossed they solved this issue.

Correct - the setting is for latching switches vs. momentary buttons.

There is a parameter in the firmware for use with an external on/off switch (there’s a 2 pin header near the balancing section for this). It seems the firmware upgrade flipped that parameter to the other setting. You can keep it on for now by shorting out those two pins.

This happened dismantling the system. So the starting point was everything connected. This was literally the very first lug I undid (my intent was to defuse the rest of the system by disconnecting the cells).

They were probably not. There are specific gloves for electrical work. But… they were what I had and they 100% helped protect my hands. The little blister was gone after two days.

I just re-opened battery 4 (the one where GSL recommended a new BMS) and inspected it more closely. Based on the seepage from the cells, even though they show consistent voltage, I think this thing is pretty cooked. I think it only shows voltage because it's a 16s4p and each of the 16 parallel...

In an ideal world, I could just take this stuff, toss it out and replace it, but I spent about $25k on these less than two years ago, so not really an option to just give up and start over. Barring that, my goal is to get all four batteries replaced with their new design - which is an ongoing...

Are they the white server rack ones? I think those just use the same seplos BMS. You’d need a windows machine and a RS485 adapter though.

Yeah… I will take some more pics of one of the batteries next time I open one up. The cells looked pretty different from what I’ve seen, almost like a 16p4s configuration.
