Yes, because the controller will be programmed to now charge a LiFePO4 battery. My question now is, do I need to add something in the alternator charge line to make it safe to charge a LiFePo4 battery?

That is what I'm thinking. The generator is diesel so it doesn't use much fuel and will be the backup. Our refrigerator is 12vdc and that is the most critical item for us. We can deal without power for most other items for a while. I'll need to do an audit tomorrow and determine critical need...
