    Wire Review & connecting mc4s to 4awg

Hi all, if anyone could review my wiring here I would be grateful. I am using 6 250W panels in 3S2P, I was going to use 10 awg wire between panels and mc4 y branches to combine the parallel strings. My problem is I need to go nearly 50 feet to my SCC. I thought I should be using 4 awg wire to...

Review my 24V 1500W solar array please?

Makes sense, do you think it would be beneficial for me to add an on/off switch between the 100A Class-T fuse and the busbar? I saw on the DC Fuse/Breaker sizing and positioning resource that if your charge controller doesn't include internal protection a second over current protection device...

Review my 24V 1500W solar array please?

Thanks for the replies! I was trying to wire the batteries in a 2S2P configuration using the 12V 100Ah batteries to build a 24V 200Ah system. Should I be using a red wire for the series connections between the two sets of batteries? Also should I connect the negative wire to the bottom right...

Review my 24V 1500W solar array please?

This system is meant to run a smaller fridge and chest freezer, a 12V rv water pump, a tv + console, a few lights, and to charge phones/tablet. The peak sun hours during summer will be just over 5hrs, and in winter peak hours will be about 3.5hrs. My thoughts were that we'd need max 7ish...

    Review my diagram?

Do you think it would make more sense to use a Victron 70amp charge controller then? Would I be able to program (as a beginner) this controller to suit the SOK batteries?

    Review my diagram?

Just to triple check, this was the chart I was referencing which is under the specifications for the SOK batteries found through one of Will's links. Am I looking at the wrong chart? I just really want to be sure of what they should be charging at

    Review my diagram?

I have reconfigured my diagram and included an array combiner. After further research I think it would be better for me to go with the Victron 150V/45A SCC if that is suitable for this array like I think it is. I have 4 SOK batteries but they are the 12V 100Ah, rather than the 12V 206Ah. I...

    Review my diagram?

I wanted to also say that I am not sure what I was thinking with the 12Vdc load there and all that mess. We really don’t even need the 12V per say so I will scrap that. I was going to use the Midnite Solar Classic 150MPPT, with 4 SOK batteries. The batteries are 12V 100ah, their max continuous...

    Review my diagram?

Got it, thank you. When I use a wire size calculator should I be considering the amperage to be 1.56 times the amperage I'm expecting for safety reasons, and that's why I should use 1AWG? I hadn't thought about that for the SCC, not producing 12V will still be fine for us.

    Review my diagram?

Noted, should I add in 15 amp fuse breakers on the positive wires coming from each string of panels before going into the mc4 connectors? My thought in using a 3000 watt inverter was that we are hoping to add more batteries in the future. Does it seem like I would be able to add 4 more...

    Review my diagram?

Ignore my scribbly questions at the bottom...unless you maybe want to answer them I'd appreciate any feedback on this system, I wanted to know if this all looked functional or not so I could continue onto the ac breaker box and try to figure that out.

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

The land our well is on is relatively flat, the well is 60ft from the house and only about a foot higher elevation wise. The highest point is about 20ft higher in elevation than the house. I am very interesting in using a holding tank at a higher elevation then the house, or possibly just above...

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

Our well is 500ft deep, they didn't tell me what the static water level actually is (so we will have to find that out for ourselves), but they did suggest we set a pump at 300ft. 300ft up then about 80ft to the pressure tank is quite a ways to pump it seems with a 120V pump. It is also quite a...

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

Long time no see :sneaky: , do any of you guys know if 10 gauge wire will work for this system? I was going to run 10AWG pv wire between panels, setting up the panels in 8S2P so the amperage would be 17.7 heading to the growatt through the 10 gauge. I am still trying to decide on a well pump...

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

We are not able to get any water out of the sand point. After having our deep well drilled though I am not surprised we had such a difficult time. The guy who did the drilling hit ledge 4ft into the ground, and he said the entire rest of the 500ft was one big mountain of solid granite. A...

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

Hmm..that is very helpful, I haven't yet purchased a well pump. I am not sure what to buy and the people who drilled the well haven't been very helpful in their suggestions. (The well is 500ft deep, but has a stream of water coming in at the 400ft point as well as about 450ft down. We are...

Need advice on altering system after financial twist

Hi everyone, long story short I think I have done goofed up. Now I really need some help. In an attempt to put together a solar system for an off grid cabin I am building I purchased the following components... - 16 of the SanTan Solar T Series 250W Panels Some specs for the panels.. Rated...

    Wiring Help

Thank you for pointing that out rmaddy, I've looked at that battery so many times now, I am not sure why I thought it ran on 24V. Silly mistake. Right now I am planning on purchasing 4 more of the 12V 100AH SOK batteries to pair with the 4 I already have in a 4S2P configuration, I am also...

    Wiring Help

If I had 8 of the 206AH batteries in 4S2P, wouldn't the 4 in series give me 96V? My thought process was that 2 in series would provide 24V x 2, giving me the 48V I need for the 5kw system. Then if I had 2 parallel sets of these, each set having a max discharge current of 100A, the max discharge...

    Wiring Help

Hypothetically, would it work if I were to use 4 of the larger SOK Batteries that run on 24V 206amp hour, set up in 2S2P? These still have a max discharge current of 100 amps, but I thought it would mean less room needed for storage and would give me a little over twice the amount of stored kwh...

    Wiring Help

I appreciate your help So say I manage to get 4 more batteries so I can have 8 in 4S2P, and I get one of these transformers, wire-wise you think I would need 2 awg between the batteries and inverter? I was trying to figure out the awg for the wire coming from the panels to the charge controller...

I would prefer the 5kW, and really we should have more batteries with the amount of cloudy days we get here. I had just hoped to squeeze by with 4 for now, but if I need 8 I will just have to work it out I am a little confused on the compatibility with North America thing, I see on the data...

Hi all, Could someone look over a system I am trying to put together for an off grid property? I've watched many of 's videos, but I'd feel better if I had some feedback about the compatibility of the components, and I am also struggling to find the correct wire gauges. I planned on using a...
