Determining correct bolt on fuse size

I won't be using anywhere near 100 amps of 12v. Max 11amps simultaneously between lights and pump. Probably around 18 Amp hours/day to run my lights for 8 hours max and water pump for an hour total. The 100 amp capacity of the fuse box and converter really distorts what I'm trying to actually run. ?

Determining correct bolt on fuse size

I'm sorry everyone. I now realize I don't have enough experience with electrical system wiring to be attempting this on my own. I'll try to follow up with how this works out once I can afford to hire a professional to help me figure it out. I won't even be using the full 100 amps from the buck...

Determining correct bolt on fuse size

What variables determine the bolt on fuse size ? I have a model S battery that will be supplying a 2400w mpp inverter and supplying a 100 amp output 24->12V buck converter for a 12v fuse block. Will suggests a 175 amp bolt on fuse on his model S page, but that's for a 2000w inverter and what...

Buck converter capacity for running 12v system from 24v battery.

How do I determine what amp rating I should choose for a 24v to 12v buck converter? My 12v fuse box can handle 100 amps. Is that overkill to get a 100 amp buck converter or is it necessary to match the fuse box capacity? I would like the option to expand my 12v system eventually, but it is...

Please help me. Advanced setup with Model S battery, All in one MPP, and 50 amp shore inlet circuitry

Thank you! My inverter has a 40amp capacity for AC in and 25amp AC out. So I think a 30 amp breaker would be fine for the sub panel between the inlet and inverter. It can only do 25amp AC out, so I'm not sure about what size breaker to use on the main breaker box that distributes the load to my...

Please help me. Advanced setup with Model S battery, All in one MPP, and 50 amp shore inlet circuitry

Okay, well I wasn't counting on a 60 minute limit to edit posts. I'm sorry I didn't edit it in time. This is the diagram I was referring to regarding the 30amp sub panel breaker. I'm really trying to start with; How do I connect a 50 amp inlets wires safely to an MPP inverter? If 8 awg is the...

True. Good points. I'll remake this post approaching one thing at a time.

    Using 24v MPP. With 12v R.V.

I could be wrong, as I have some limited recent experience with old 12v trailer systems, but I think the shore power inlet on your trailer probably connects to an on board battery charger which runs the DC 12v load off of the battery it charges with the incoming shore power. So you might still...

Please help me. Advanced setup with Model S battery, All in one MPP, and 50 amp shore inlet circuitry

So I'm currently in the middle of an off grid vintage travel trailer renovation and have been actively trying to learn electrical basics in my "down time." I've read William's book, have been reading forums, and absorbing what I can infer from videos and diagrams of similar setups to what I'm...

Can a 50 amp inlet supply grid power to an all in one solar power box? (mpp, etc.)

Hello, I'm totally new to DIY Solar but I've been reading up and familiarizing myself with the subject and practicing electrical tasks recently and am pretty tech savvy so feel comfortable enough to approach planning my off grid solar system in advance of installing it. I'm currently renovating...

    Seasons Greetings from RVA Renovator

Hi! My name is Robbie and I'm completely new to the subject of DIY Solar. I am renovating a vintage 1966 travel trailer caravan camper into an off grid tiny home. William's site and videos have been extremely helpful in making the approach to a new skill set much more feasible and I'm super...
